What an adventure that was… today our Homegrown Family Daycare chapter comes to a close. 💛Nearly three beautiful years of laughter, learning, and love. I’ve watched little ones come through the doors as babies and leave as confident kindy kids, ready to take on the big world of school. I’ve celebrated first steps, first words, birthdays, milestones… and have been there to wipe away tears, share cuddles, and cheer on every small victory.
When I started Homegrown, I dreamt of creating a community — and that’s exactly what I got. A village of families, children, and moments I will carry in my heart forever. You have all taught me so much, and I’m beyond grateful for every single one of you who made Homegrown what it was.
Our family is now ready for its next chapter — turning our house back into a home and chasing new dreams. I’m more inspired than ever to keep working towards my goal of becoming a kindergarten teacher.

Today at Homegrown Family Daycare, we celebrated an exciting milestone for five of our little friends who are heading off to Kindergarten next year! While most will still be part of our space, this big step in their learning journey deserves a celebration filled with love, laughter, and a little sparkle.

🌻 Our gardening class today took an unexpected, yet delightful, turn! The moment the children spotted all the mud, their focus shifted entirely—mud play was calling their names! Instead of saying no, we embraced the joy of child-led learning, because in the wise words of Loris Malaguzzi, “Nothing without joy.” And off they went, squishing, splashing, and giggling, with no boundaries and no rules (well, except to have fun!). These are the unforgettable moments that make family daycare so special—where we take messy play to a whole new level and make memories that will last a lifetime. 🌻
Today, Homegrown FDC hosted a special playgroup in collaboration with our other Empowered Family Daycare educators to honor Day for Daniel, focusing on child safety and awareness.

I am so excited to announce this year I received the Emerging Star Award in the 2024 National Excellence in Family Day Care Awards.
The Emerging Star Award is presented to an educator, coordinator and service that is new to the family day care sector or their role and has made a big impact in a short amount of time.
I need to do a huge thank you to the company & community of Empowered Family Daycare who have believed in me and supported me!
But the biggest thank you is to the little friends that have made Homegrown FDC what is it today. No matter how long or short their experience was, everyone has made a huge impact on myself and Homegrown.

This is what my weekend with my own children looked like, nature, fresh air and connection
This experience is exactly what I wanted to create when I had the idea of Homegrown FDC. A maths lesson in the kitchen, cooking homemade Jam with lemons from our Bush Tucker garden. Our school children harvested the lemons and into the kitchen we went learning about fractions, working out measurements and singing and dancing along the way. I love watching the children learn and grow while doing what they love ❤️
