Bilbies not Bunnies for your easter chocolate! That sounds like a win win to me.

Glossy Workshops complete, nest boxes installed and now for the monitoring!
Over the weekend we had 70 Glossy lovers turn out to learn about feeding and nesting behaviours. One of the major takeaways for me was the conversations that started and the connections being made, all for bettering Glossy Black Cockatoo conservation.
If you know of Glossies in our Bunyas to Border Corridor, we’d love to hear about it.
This workshop is supported by a partnership between the The Great Eastern Ranges initiative, ifaw and LUCI - Caring for Native Habitats in the Lockyer as part of a broader effort to create Koala Climate Corridors to support wildlife adaptation and build resilience. This project also received funding from BirdLife Australia, making it all possible. A big thanks to everyone involved and in particular Killarney Bushcare, Leaftail environmental and Friends of the Forest inc.

Now this was a fun afternoon! Setting up a floating bird hide to photograph from the water was a new experience and absolutely loved it. Approaching a Darter at this spot from the land means they fly as soon as they see you coming but from the water, even gave me a smile 😉

Pied Oystercatcher.

Can you see both birds in this shot?
The chick was so well hidden against the rock. While I was here a white faced heron moved in and the mother Oyster Catcher was not having it! Chased it off in a flash of feathers.

Double vision. Such a fan of the feel of this photo with soft side light coming in and shooting against some shadowed bank. It's able to shape and show particular parts of your subject. Sometimes we can get caught shooting too often with the sun coming over our shoulder, try something new 🔅

"Oooh, that's the spot". This Red-necked wallaby really know how to scratch an itch! Taken at Girraween with quite low light conditions and had to push the ISO a bit but often that's required in those difficult situations. 📸

Battle of the itty bitty tiny birds, light weight division! I never would have thought I'd see a Thornbill 5 grams and a Pink Robin 10 grams battling it out. The confrontation only lasted seconds as they decided who was the victor. 👑

Gotta love a Penguin waddle!

So floofy! This was quite a cold morning at Girraween which meant these Superb fairywrens were all bundled up.

It's been a while since I shared some Powerful Owl love. This was such an awesome time spent with this incredible bird; all bar 2 days did this owl perch on a branch that had separation to the background. If you have 2 minutes to spare, check out "Powerful Owl - One tender evening" on YouTube, it is a combination of nights to show you one.
