Current and past Fairholme families joined Principal, Dr Leigh Hobart, and Head of Boarding, Kylie Wallis, at the recent ICPA QLD INC - Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association Queensland Inc State Conference last week 💛
Fairholme is a very proud supporter of the ICPA - the voice of families who live, work and educate their children in rural and remote areas - as it continues to advocate for equitable access to quality education, regardless of postcode.

Twenty-five years after graduating from Fairholme College, Toowoomba Regional Council's Deputy Mayor, Rebecca Vonhoff returned "holme" to where her journey began.
Last week, Cr Vonhoff spent time with our Year 5 students, sharing insights into her career, local government, leadership, and even overcoming Eisteddfod nerves.
“How cool to go back to Fairholme as Deputy Mayor to talk to the Year 5 students. The Fairholme girls had so many questions and they were all bright and thoughtful. We talked about different opinions, democracy, why and how to become a councillor or member of parliament, and why Eisteddfod nerves are okay because they should chase a big and challenging life - not an easy life.
"Truly, I left the school with a huge smile on my face because they were total delights.”
Thank you, Councillor Vonhoff, for returning to Fairholme and inspiring our girls to think big, embrace challenges, and lead with confidence.

From nightly prep in boarding school to running a thriving digital marketing agency (KA Digital Marketing) across two countries, Fairholme Old Girl, Kiris Megaw (2014), says the lessons in discipline, resilience and consistently showing up have stayed with her long after walking Palm Drive for the last time.
'Moving overseas, starting a business from scratch, navigating lockdowns, and building a client base in a new country all felt a little less daunting because of the resilience and tenacity I learned at Fairholme.'

Fairholme Old Girl and current Augathella School Principal, Natalie Newell (1993) proved this month that grit, heart and a whole lot of pedal power can go a long way (literally!).
Natalie gave it her all in the RideWest challenge, which sees a peloton cycle from Brisbane to Longreach in just over a week.
The biennial bike ride raises funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Wellbeing Out West program which delivers free mental health education, counselling and support to people in the North West, Central West and South West Queensland regions.
We were so proud to cheer on this incredible Old Girl as she took to the road covering 1311kms in just eight days.

Fairholme 2025 Senior, Bron Francis, was one of just 40 outstanding artists whose works were awarded the Queensland Government’s Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art.
The awards recognise and celebrate the next generation of artists in senior Visual Art education in Queensland schools, with winning pieces taking centre stage at the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art.
As one of our newest Old Girls, Bron is currently studying a double degree at QUT, pursuing a Bachelor in Education and a Bachelor in Creative Arts.
More than 470 submissions were received for the 2025 awards. A further 116 students received a Commendation Award, including Fairholme’s Indianna Hitchcock and eight students – one from each education region – received a Regional Encouragement Award, with another (new) Old Girl, Millie Bryant-Peterson (2025), receiving the award for the Darling Downs/South-West region.
The CGEAVA Exhibition will be on display at QAGOMA, Southbank, Brisbane until 13 September 2026 and well worth the visit!
