Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

Take another look through your What & When for Families guide to explore age-appropriate activities and learning ideas you can try together.

💛 Sometimes the best learning resource is the one you already have at home.

🌟 Story magic is in full swing! 📚✨

This week, our children have been thoroughly engaged in exploring the sequence of stories, bringing their favourite books to life through a range of fun and meaningful learning experiences. Their creativity, curiosity, and enthusiasm have been wonderful to see, and we can't wait to discover what the rest of the week has in store!

📚🎶 Book Week 2026, Symphony of Stories! 🎶📚

We are so excited to celebrate Book Week 2026 with our children and families from 24th–28th August!

This year’s theme is “Symphony of Stories” celebrating how voices, books and illustrations harmonise to bring stories to life. 📖🎶

DRESS-UP FUN! 🧚‍♂️🐻

We would love to make Book Week as fun and exciting as possible for the children, so we encourage all children to dress up as their favourite book character, storybook creature or anything that inspires their imagination! There are no rules about what they can wear, we want the children to have fun and be as creative as possible. ✨

Throughout the week, we will be creating our own little “symphony of stories” as we explore the joy of books, storytelling, music, movement and imagination. The children will have opportunities to revisit some of their favourite stories, discover new books, listen to rhymes and songs, explore story-inspired sensory experiences and get creative with books and illustrations.

For our little ones, books are so much more than words on a page. They help us connect, communicate, develop our imaginations and share special moments together. ❤️

Families, we would love you to join in too! If your child has a favourite book at home, please share it with us or let us know what story they love. You could also spend some time reading together, singing a favourite song or talking about the pictures and characters in their favourite books. 🥰

We can’t wait to celebrate the wonderful world of books and create beautiful learning moments together throughout Book Week 2026! 🎶📖💕

🐦🎨 Today we welcomed a very special parent guest, Shani, into our Kindergarten room! The children enjoyed creating beautiful bird artwork inspired by their love of birds. We are also so proud of the amazing sustainable bird nests they have been creating. It's wonderful to see children's interests come to life through creativity, sustainability, and family involvement. 💚🌿

😴💙 Pyjama Day Fun! 💙😴

Last Friday, we celebrated Pyjama Day across the centre, and what a wonderful day it was! Children and educators enjoyed coming to care dressed in their favourite pyjamas, bringing lots of excitement and smiles to our rooms.

Throughout the day, children participated in a variety of arts and crafts experiences, explored creative activities, and enjoyed spending time with their friends, all while staying cosy and comfortable in their pyjamas. ✨

It was a fantastic day filled with fun, laughter, and special memories for everyone involved!
