Hi All
Have been in touch with our old colleague who I suspect most of you have not heard from since the 60's, He's alive and well and living in Vancouver or nearby.
He's just launched a book he's been working on, so here's his note to me explaining the details:-
"My news: Further to a note I sent you a couple of months ago, you will be glad to learn that "my book" is finally published, bringing to a close about two years in its development.
The story itself reflects the nature of the extraordinary life my dad and mum led in several parts of the world, contributions made and lessons learned.
Now I begin the ongoing task of promoting it, starting with family, friends and colleagues, then working towards broader readership, eventually international in scope.
The book is now available in hard copy (hard and soft cover), from Amazon (.ca and .com), Barnes & Noble, FriesenPress, and is coming soon to Chapters/Indigo.
An ebook version is also available now from Kobo, Apple books, Google Play and Kindle (pending). The eBook is probably the version that appeals to most, as the cost is so modest.
With guidance and assistance from my publisher (FriesenPress), I now have an author website, which provides essential details including active links to order a copy.
Here is the URL: https://www.franklinwhiteauthor.com/
Do feel free to share this information with anyone you think might find it of interest.
With best wishes!
Frank"
I don't think he wants to keep the title a secret, so to save you digging it is "Miner with a Heart of Gold"
Good luck with the book Frank and maybe you'd better get to our next reunion and sign some copies.

Can anybody tell me the name of the band? We all know the 3 players......
Hi All You OLD Critters, I trust you're keeping well and Virus-free. We were in the throes of organising a 'Practice' 60-Year Reunion, Royal Pines was booked for 24-26 July and the invites were all but ready to flow, but something happened...!!
We'll probably try again later in the year or next year, but watch this space and ask any of your colleagues you stay in touch with to send me their up-to-date email and phone #. Start the ball rolling by sending your own right NOW.
Cheers all till next time BK
The reason it was suggested we have a Reunion next year rather than wait till 2023 - (we can do it again then) - is that some of us may not make it to 2023..... and that has sadly been proven to be true not once but twice in the past week or 2.
Firstly, GEOFF BUTTS passed away rather suddenly in the UK a week or so back. I have limited detail but I guess that doesn't matter, we've lost a good mate, and I believe there will be a memorial get-together for Geoff in Brisbane next week, Friday 13th 3pm at Brothers Rugby Club in Crosby Road at Albion...(how did he get mixed up with the Brethren, I thought they were the arch-enemy?)
Then, closer to home, JOHN ELWORTHY called it quits on Thursday morning just gone and we're having a celebratory lunch at Indooroopilly Golf Club, next Thursday 12/12 which would have been John's 75th Birthday. If you want to attend, you'll be most welcome, a casual affair to let us share some memories, but please let me know for catering reasons.
I now trust my next messages are with less sombre undertones, but I guess that's the age we're getting to.
Keep in touch, we're a diminishing group.
Best Regards to all, BK
I wonder how many of the '63 team are still connected here, plenty I hope as we are about to put together a reunion date for next year, 2020, 60 years from when most of us started, and we'll need all your help to get the message out.
Please let me know if you're 'connected' to this message.
Bestest....BK
Many of us have developed a very strong recent fondness for the irrepressible TONY BOOTH. He's stayed connected with the school but more particularly with very many old boys, he spoke at our 50-yr reunion and I'm sure everyone there enjoyed Tony's view of the world.
Tony's now mid 80's, as sharp as ever and has been in amazing shape physically for a guy of that vintage. However, he has had a recent lucky wake up call with open-heart surgery repairing a potentially fatal problem. He's still in St Andrews but looking good and expects to be home within the week, and I just know he would welcome a call from any of you who will take the time to do so..... when you think about it we are almost 'family' to Tony.

and it would be great if you'd pass this message onto any who may not be in our small FaceBook cohort.

Hi Guys, A whole bunch of sadness revisited with the article on Rex Colbert's death in last weekend's Courier Mail. So for those of you who don't get the CM, here's the story, not pretty reading but I guess it was what it was...... I'll put it on the website as well. Regards All, BK

While I'm at it, we should all welcome John Matthews back "into the fold". Go to the website and you'll see that he's just this week filled out his bio, took 2 years but well worth the wait.
Have any others of you been 'Knighted' or near equivalent or are we leaving it to these two to carry the flag for us?
Hi All, I trust you all saw the news, but if not another of our crew has been recognised..... Michael Williams was awarded an OAM “for services to business, particularly the liquid natural gas sector” in the recent announcement of Australian Honours.
Congratulations Michael, you'll now be able to sit up near the top of the table with Greg Vickery../.
Thanks for all your birthday wishes .... unfortunately most (all??) of them got stuck in cyberspace but I'm sure they're on their way.
