GENERATIONS OF SACRED HEART

Three generations of the Doneley family recently gathered at Stuartholme School to reflect on a connection spanning more than a century.

Their story began in 1922, when Mary Ellen (Molly) Allen, the family's matriarch, became the 26th student to enrol at Stuartholme. Arriving as an eight-year-old from a Queensland station property, Molly joined the School just two years after its founding, beginning a legacy that would continue across generations.

From grandmother to daughters and now granddaughters, the Donnelley family's story is a powerful reminder of the enduring connections formed at Stuartholme School.

SARAH LONG (CLASS OF 2017) VISITS STUARTHOLME

When alumna Sarah Long (Class of 2017) returned to Stuartholme as guest speaker at the Years 9-12 Parent Daughter Breakfast, she shared a powerful reflection on confidence, resilience, service and finding your voice.

From her time at Stuartholme to a career spanning law, sustainability, human rights and social impact, Sarah encouraged students to embrace opportunities with courage, build confidence one brave choice at a time, and use their gifts to create positive change.

CAREER READY DAY WITH OUR YOUNG ALUMNAE

It was wonderful to welcome a number of our young Stuartholme School (official) alumnae back to the School for Year 12 Careers Day last week.

Sharing their experiences of life beyond Stuartholme, our alumnae offered valuable insight, encouragement and perspective as our Year 12 students prepare for their next chapter. While the path ahead can feel daunting, their message was to take it all in, embrace the opportunities that come your way, and remember that you do not need to have everything figured out right now.

We are grateful to our alumnae for generously giving their time and wisdom, and for reminding our future graduates that every journey is unique.

SENIOR ALUMNAE LUNCH

The Senior Alumnae Lunch welcomed Stuartholme School (official) alumnae from the Class of 1980 and earlier back to the School for a wonderful afternoon of connection and reminiscing. Guests gathered on the Pink Balcony to enjoy canapés and refreshments while taking in the stunning city views, before moving to the Boarding Dining Hall for lunch.

Throughout the afternoon, stories were shared, friendships rekindled, and memories reflected upon, celebrating both their time at Stuartholme and the journeys that have followed since. It was a special opportunity to reconnect with one another and honour the enduring bonds of the Sacred Heart community.

A MOMENT IN TIME - BOARDING

For more than a century, boarding at Stuartholme has been a place where young women from near and far find a second home and become part of a community that lasts well beyond graduation. Until the mid-1970s, almost every Stuartholme student was a boarder, with only a handful of day students, usually fewer than 10, attending the School. As Brisbane's western suburbs expanded, it became possible to welcome a growing number of day scholars to the Stuartholme community.

Gone are the rows of metal-framed beds and large shared dormitories, but the friendships, sense of belonging and lifelong bonds of sisterhood continue to define the Stuartholme boarding experience.

ALUMNAE ACHIEVEMENT - CBCA BOOK OF THE YEAR WINNER

Congratulations to Class of 2014 alumna Ingrid Bartkowiak, whose beautiful illustrations feature in Peculiar Parents, a fascinating children's book exploring 60 Australian animal species and the many ways they create families, build homes, care for their young and look after one another.

The book was recently recognised as the CBCA Book of the Year Award Winner in the Eve Pownall Award for Information Books category, celebrating excellence in Australian non-fiction for young readers.

It is wonderful to see a member of our alumnae community recognised for such an outstanding achievement.
