Leaving home for boarding school is always going to have its ups and downs. One of the ways we support the transition for Year 7 and Year 8 students is by building in support from older boys.
Year 12 student Hamish (pictured, centre) is a Junior Dorm Leader and his room is right around the corner from the younger boys so that he is close by if they need any advice or a mate to chat to. Hamish has been an excellent support to the younger boarders this year, helping them settle in to their new home away from home.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural PromptED student conference, the first of its kind in Australia, our Head of Secondary School, Ms Amelia Apogremiotis, identified a clear need to better support parents in understanding AI and its influence on young people.
This dedicated parent session is open to all Brisbane parents. Your child does not need to attend Brisbane Boys’ College to take part.
Parents will leave informed, confident, and better equipped to guide their child through this evolving landscape.

P.S. The cover art below isn't what it seems. It is a recreation of the famous original photo taken by Mick Rock in 1973 for the Queen II album cover art. Our photo features Headmaster Mr Andre Casson, Deputy Headmaster Mr Scott Murphy, Music Captain Lachy Brown (Year 12), and Music Vice-Captain Nicholas Rieman (Year 12). The BBC photograph was taken by Mr Alex Jamieson.

Another proud year for our BBC Pipe Bands at the State Championships!
At the recent Queensland State Pipe Band Championships, our boys stepped up and delivered an incredible set of results, bringing home:
• Multiple 1st Place awards
• Multiple Best Drumming honours
• Multiple Best Dressed and Best Drill honours
A special mention goes to our Development Band, who competed at their very first State Championships — the future of the program is in great hands.
Our Old Collegians Pipe Band also took home a 2nd place finish in the Grade 3 competition, and it was great to see our Old Boys returning to campus representing the Green, White and Black.
A massive thank you to the Parent Support Group, staff, volunteers and the wider community for their tireless support.
If you know a future BBC boy ready to join this proud musical and leadership tradition, encourage them to explore our world class Pipe Band Program.

For many country boys, rugby becomes part of their story.
So too does the moment he leaves home and discovers what he's capable of.
At Brisbane Boys' College, those two things come together - on the field, in the boarding house, and in the lifelong friendships built along the way.
You'll find Brisbane Boys' College at Roma Rugby Races with our staff, families, and Old Boys - not with a pitch, but with time for a genuine conversation.
About boarding life.
About finding his place in Brisbane.
About the kind of young man he wants to become.
Know a family exploring boarding?
Bring them over. Introduce us. We'd be pleased to welcome them into the clan.

This time last week our Year 12s were getting ready to attend their Senior Formal. With fewer than 100 days to go at school, the occasion was filled with high and low emotions for the families of the boys.
We spoke to Hamish Down (Year 12) on his experience helping to organise the event and what he was looking forward to on the night. While many parents were feeling nostalgic on the night, for the boys, the night was one of celebration with their mates and dates.
