Elevating human connection with self and others. Understand your purpose. Bouncing you forward!

02/05/2024

Earlier this week, I overheard someone remark, "It feels like the Easter holidays were a long time ago." The individual who made this comment is known for positively influencing many staff members by exemplifying and discussing self-care. Moreover, they actively create opportunities for self-care within the workplace. It's important to note that this remark wasn't made in a negative context; rather, it stems from their genuine passion for their work and their strategic approach to their responsibilities. This passion has led them to view school life with enthusiasm, believing in their actions and responses toward themselves and others. Their "busyness" is transformative, reshaping how we interpret such statements. Indeed, experiencing joy can make time seem to fly byβ€”an incredible phenomenon!

Gratitude and self-understanding are symbiotic, they reinforce and compliment each other, fostering personal growth, resilience, and well-being. When we cultivate gratitude and deepen our understanding of self, we embark on a transformative journey toward living authentically and finding fulfillment in all aspects of life.

This in turn supports our ability to know ourselves even better in the workplace, and provides greater courage, resilience, and performance to be our best selves.

Helping our educators in schools to align their values and beliefs through behaviours, attitudes, and interactions with a lens of 'Know Thy Self', will continue to create enriching moments of JoY throughout the day.

An early career teachers overwhelm and stress can be alleviated when they have an educative leader and mentor who supports explicit instruction and age-appropriate pedagogy in their classroom πŸƒ

A motivated, engaged, and empowered teacher passes this capacity building and confidence onto their students. It’s in this instructional learning where student efficacy and empowerment begins to translate into greater student learning and well-being outcomes. A teacher can also breathe better, because providing exceptional teaching and learning drives their performance and takes away all the fluff to get to the heart of their purpose with deep focused learning πŸƒ

Teaching and learning should radiate engagement with students that strives to elevate student achievement and enrichment. With this in mind, the overwhelm of planning and preparation is minimised because the power is in the rigour of short, sharp, deep diving πŸƒ

What is necessary for exceptional student learning?
What is necessary for exceptional instruction?

We do this, and a part of well-being for early career teachers is reduced and sets them up for the rest of their teaching life πŸƒ

Cultural Continuity and Institutional Knowledge
A structured early career teacher program can help preserve organisational knowledge and maintain cultural continuity within the school community. By nurturing and retaining talented educators, schools can ensure continuity in teaching practices, values, and traditions over time.

Strategic approaches within systems and schools play a vital partnership in supporting the success of new educators, and it's our role to continue to advocate and walk alongside our early career teachers in authentic ways πŸƒ

With the end of Term 1 approaching here is Australia, it's timely more than ever for our early career teachers to engage with self, and with a trusted colleague in reflective practices. Being curious about their own notice and wonderings in the classroom helps them to recognise, relabel, reframe, refocus, and revalue purposeful and effective teaching and learning and relationships across the school community πŸƒ

While most educators reflect daily through habit and with proficiency, our ECT's in their first 5 years should be provided the opportunity by other experienced practitioners, to deeply evaluate and celebrate their success πŸƒ

Building upon appropriate pedagogy, learning how to conserve their resources, add to their classroom toolkit, and continue to cultivate human connection is paramount πŸƒ

Are you an Instructional Leader with Early Career Teachers or thinking of recruiting soon? If so, I'm here to be your supportive human resource 🌿

The support of our Early Career Teachers and their Mentors isn't a nice to have, it's a MUST have, and alongside this we need to ensure there is depth to the support we all say is essential.

ECT's come to the profession with energy, excitement, and ready to learn, however unfortunately for so many the reality of a classroom key and 25-30 faces to teach holistically is quite the feat.

I've been gathering data on the needs and wants of our ECT's, and face to face, because it's here I can truly HEAR them. It's in these moments sadly I WATCH the tears fall, I FEEL their hearts heavy with burden, confusion, and guilt. All they want is to be the best version of themselves personally and professionally.

We say we want retention of teachers and we say we need more teachers. Well, part of the intrinsic motivation needs to start with our ECT's knowing that real support is provided. We need to do what we say much better. The first 5 years are critical!

πŸƒ I can provide ways of working in schools that are created in context and has depth that supports the whole school with retention of a well teacher.
πŸƒ I can provide professional development that dives into classroom and school life that supports with clarity, softly, and quality over quantity.
πŸƒ I can provide professional development that supports the rigour of understanding self and others from a neuroscience perspective to support longevity in the profession.
πŸƒ I can provide 1-1 and 1-2 support for ECT's and their Mentors.
