57 St Catherine’s students from Prep to Year 12 competed at the Victorian Interschools Snowsport Championships, with 33 qualifying for the Australian Championships at Perisher.

Our Junior School claimed the Overall State Primary School title, while the Senior School finished 3rd overall in the Secondary School standings.

At Mt Buller, 17 of 30 teams finished on the podium, including a Division 2 Alpine gold medal and multiple silver and bronze results across Alpine, Ski Cross, Snowboard Cross, Snowboard GS and Moguls.

Special congratulations to Victorian Ski Cross Champions Annika G (Division 2) and Zuza F (Division 6), and to Bianca F, who qualified for Nationals in an incredible seven disciplines across both skiing and snowboarding.

We are so proud of them all! Thank you to the coaches and staff for their dedication and commitment to our athletes.

On Friday 29 May, the 2026 Ruth Langley Luncheon brought the St Catherine’s community together for one of our most anticipated signature events — a celebration of legacy and leadership.

This year, we were privileged to welcome The Honourable Linda Dessau (’69) AC CVO as guest speaker in conversation with Principal, Ms Natalie Charles.

Linda completed her schooling at St Catherine’s, before embarking on a remarkable journey that would take her to the very highest levels of public life in Victoria.

In 2015, she made history as the first female and Jewish Governor of Victoria. From the Victorian Bar to the Family Court bench, she is a true trailblazer in every sense of the word.

Our sincere thanks to MC Mrs Catherine Roosenburg, PFA President Mrs Lisa Yazbek, and the Ruth Langley Committee for their leadership and vision in delivering an elegant and uplifting afternoon that so beautifully captured the spirit of the St Catherine’s community.

What a spectacular evening! 🎷🎤🎼

On Wednesday night, the Music Department’s annual Jazz Night brought the JRGT Theatre to life. Thanks to the creative touch of the Creative Arts Auxiliary, the space was completely transformed into a sophisticated, Gatsby-inspired venue.

Our talented student soloists and ensembles delivered incredible performances, made even more memorable by the chance to play alongside the phenomenal Mina Yu Trio (Mina Yu on piano, Annette Yates on double bass, and Sonja Horbelt on drums).

It was truly an evening of magical music and unforgettable moments. Bravo and congratulations to all of our performers!

We are delighted that Tracey McCallum, our Head of Boarding, is heading to Wagga Wagga this week to represent St Catherine’s at the Boarding Schools Expo.

The Boarding School Collective connects rural, regional, and remote families to brighter futures through education, opening doors to opportunities without seeing families leave the towns, farms, and communities they love.

At St Catherine’s, we welcome our boarders to our historical Illawarra House from all rural and global corners: Euroa to Wagga Wagga; Albury to Hay; Shepparton to Lurg; Echuca to Ballarat; Singapore to Hong Kong, and Vietnam to China.

Our Boarding House is indeed a rare gem in the St Catherine’s crown, and we are all the better for the dynamic community of girls who call Illawarra, home.

Our performers were certainly not afraid of greatness during their recent season of Twelfth Night, The Musical. 🎭

Congratulations to our remarkable cast and crew, creatives and orchestra for their artistic commitment, making this show a roaring success.

Head of Performing Arts Mr James Brown reflected, “You embraced chaos, comedy, music and magic of this beautiful show with courage and generosity. From the very first rehearsal to the final bow in the Jamie and Rebecca Gray Theatre, this company created something truly special together. New friendships were formed and bold risks were taken, where the cast transported our audiences to the wondrous world of Illyria across our sold-out season.” 🙌👏

We are immensely proud of our artists, and we know it takes a village behind them to create this kind of magic on stage.

Thank you to our families and wider School community for supporting our production, and the Arts more broadly.

“So long lives this, and this gives life to thee”.

Wishing our School community a very Happy Mother's Day!

On Thursday 7 May, students from Years 5 to 12 gathered with their mothers at The Terrace, Botanic Gardens, for the PFA Mother's Day Breakfast.

Three St Catherine's parents shared their stories across a remarkable breadth of careers – a commercial airline pilot, a paediatric allergist and immunologist, and a TV and radio commentator, columnist and author – speaking both as professionals and as mothers to daughters.

The conversation was beautifully guided by current parent Mimi Kwa, author and keynote speaker, who brought her warmth and skill to the role of MC and interviewer.

We sincerely thank our School community for attending.

Hot off the press, and very 'cool' news indeed.

We are delighted to welcome Jenny Lyons (née Owens) to St Catherine's as our Head of Snowsports.

From Salt Lake City to Vancouver to Sochi, Jenny carried the green and gold across three Winter Olympics, competing in both Alpine Skiing and Ski Cross.

She competed in Alpine Skiing for 14 years, including five seasons on the World Cup circuit with multiple Top 30 finishes, before transitioning to Ski Cross, spending another 11 years on the World Cup tour.

She became the first Australian to podium in Ski Cross at World Cup level.

Currently, Jenny leads the Ignite Athlete Employment program at Deloitte Australia, supporting athletes to chase dreams and balance professional careers.

A proud mother-of-two, she brings a rare and rounded understanding of the full athlete pathway.

We officially launch our Snowsports season tonight! Please join us in welcoming Jenny into our community, where she will lead our girls into a new chapter of possibility.
