This week, as part of the Loreto Toorak Career Immersion Program, a group of Year 10 students had the pleasure of visiting Beca, one of Asia Pacific's largest independent advisory, design, and engineering consultancies.

Operating as a prominent global company, Beca provided an incredible window into the diverse pathways available in STEAM. The students were hosted by an inspiring group of five early-career female graduates working across vital technical and advisory roles, including a graduate process engineer, architectural designer, senior digital consultant, and power engineer.

Beyond technical prowess, the graduates highlighted the crucial importance of soft skills in the workforce, such as communication, adaptability, and collaboration, proving that modern careers rely just as much on human connection as they do on technical expertise.

Championing female engagement in STEAM is vital for the future, and these young women acted as engaging and inspirational role models for our students. Thank you to the team at Beca for welcoming our students and investing in the next generation of innovators!

Our Senior Play, Clue, enjoyed a sensational run with our Year 11 and 12 students delivering energetic performances, bold characterisations, and comedic delivery. โœจ

Congratulations to our talented directors, including Greta, our 2026 Drama Captain, along with alumni Mimi Lechte (Class of 2025) and Cleo Hunter (Class of 2023). We are delighted to welcome back these recent graduates who are so generously supporting and mentoring our current students.

Our co-curricular Productions program offers students the opportunity to work alongside professional artists, collaborate across every aspect of a production and experience the unique joy of creating something together. Through this process, students build skills, confidence and lasting memories that remain long after the final curtain falls.

Here at Loreto Toorak, our Preparatory students embrace the wonders of early literacy through the evidence-based Little Learners Love Literacy approach. Structured, sequential lessons equip children with essential reading and writing skills, developing phonemic awareness, letter-sound relationships, and the confidence to blend and segment words.

This strong foundation comes to life with the adored character Milo the Monkey, who becomes a joyful companion in the classroom. Students take Milo on exciting adventures, write about their experiences, and celebrate Milo's birthday with a literacy focussed party. These playful interactions deepen engagement, strengthen oral language, and provide meaningful contexts for storytelling, fostering a lifelong enthusiasm for learning within our Loreto Toorak community. ๐Ÿ’๐ŸŽ‚โœจ

The Preparatory class of Loreto Toorak recently celebrated 100 Days of School. ๐ŸŽ‰

Our students proudly wore their own '100 Days of loving school' t-shirts featuring their original drawings on the front. Throughout the day, the students enjoyed designing and decorating love heart sunglasses and creating ceramic love heart keepsakes. Our young learners also gathered with their Year 1 piazza pals to count collections of 100 objects. Later, conversations filled the air over lunch with our Year 12 friends, before everyone took to the floor for a fun dance party. A highlight of the celebration was spending time with our Principal, Ms Oโ€™Dwyer.

What a wonderful milestone for our students. ๐Ÿ’™

Mary Ward Connect saw sixteen of our Year 10 students travel to Loreto College Coorparoo and Loreto Normanhurst for a week of connection and community, whilst we hosted visitors here in Toorak. Our travelling students and staff, alongside their welcoming hosts, enjoyed time in the classrooms, grounds, dining rooms and assemblies of both schools, as well as participating in excursions around Brisbane and Sydney. They represented our School with pride!

Our travellers had a wonderful time and said very sad goodbyes to new friends upon their return to Melbourne, just as our Loreto Toorak hosts bid a fond farewell to our visitors too. We are grateful to both our sister schools for their warm hospitality and for ensuring the bonds of Mary Ward Connect continued in 2026. ๐Ÿ’™โœจ

Last Sunday it was a joy to gather with our Year 4 students as they took a significant step in their faith journey, receiving their first Holy Communion. After many weeks of preparation at School, it was wonderful to see the Year 4s receive this sacrament with reverence and grace, in the presence of their families and friends.

Mass took place in the Chapel of Christ the King, continuing a long tradition for girls and their families at Loreto Toorak. We are grateful to Fr Daniel Szewc OMI, who celebrated our Mass and reminded the Year 4s of the beauty of this special day, where Jesus and his love for us is at the centre of our hearts.

We are very proud of our Year 4s and wish them every blessing as they continue to grow in faith and belonging.
