Our Year 9 students and staff have returned from their RICE Camp journeys across Australia.

A highlight of the Year 9 experience at St Kevin’s, RICE sees students embark on a nine-day expedition through some of Australia’s most stunning landscapes. From kayaking along the Nymboida River, to camel trekking through the rugged South Australian desert and exploring the Snowy Mountains, each journey challenges students to step outside their comfort zones, build resilience and strengthen friendships.

For many students, past and present, RICE remains one of the most memorable experiences of their time at St Kevin’s.

Congratulations to our Year 9 students on completing their journeys and thank you to the staff who supported them along the way. A special thank you to our Outdoor Education Department for the significant work that goes into planning and coordinating these memorable adventures each year.

Last week, we were delighted to welcome grandparents and special friends to Glendalough for a wonderful celebration of the important place they hold in the lives of our boys.

The love, wisdom, encouragement and guidance of grandparents and special friends have a lasting impact and it was a joy to bring our community together to recognise and celebrate these special relationships.

Thank you to our boys, staff and the Glendalough Parents’ Association for helping make the day such a warm and memorable celebration and to all our grandparents and special friends who joined us and made the occasion so special.

A memorable day for our Firsts Soccer side, who were crowned APS Premiers for the first time since 2009. A magnificent achievement and a fitting reward for an outstanding season. Congratulations to all players and staff involved in this special achievement.

Congratulations also to our Firsts Hockey and Rugby teams on reaching their respective Grand Finals. While the results didn’t fall your way on the day, the character, resilience and spirit you displayed until the final whistle and throughout the season is to be commended.

We also congratulate all students and staff involved across our Winter sports program this season. Thank you for the commitment and enthusiasm you have shown and for representing the College with great pride throughout the year.

Congratulations to Year 12 student, Albern, on being awarded Individual Best Oralist in the Semi-Final of the 2026 National High School Mooting Competition.

Competing against students from 65 schools across Australia, Albern represented St Kevin’s with distinction. Following unforeseen changes to the team, he competed individually in the Semi-Final, taking on the responsibilities of both senior and junior counsel.

Despite being unable to progress to the Grand Final as a solo competitor, Albern was named the top individual advocate in the Semi-Final, an outstanding achievement on the national stage.

Congratulations to Albern on this outstanding achievement, with thanks also to Year 12 student, Peter, who assisted with his final preparation.

Our Preps are officially 100 days wiser, stronger and kinder!

On Friday, we welcomed our Prep families to celebrate 100 Days of Prep. The boys enjoyed a range of fun games and activities centred around the theme of 100, marking this very special milestone together.

Here’s to the next 100 days and many more memorable milestones to come for our young Kevinians.

The 2026 Senior House Basketball Competition concluded with Purton House defeating Cusack House in a closely contested final.

The decider was played in great spirit, with the lead changing throughout before Purton held off a late challenge from Cusack to claim the title.

Congratulations to all students who took part across the competition, those who supported from the sidelines and the staff who supervised the tournament. House spirit plays an important role in College life at St Kevin's and it was on full display throughout the competition.

Our Year 11 Aviation students visited Swinburne University's Aviation Department for an exciting hands-on experience with the University's state-of-the-art Airbus A320 flight simulator.

Hosted by Old Collegian Joshua Brodrick (SKC 2019), now a PhD candidate overseeing the simulator's research and teaching operations, the students were introduced to the vastly different A320 cockpit before each taking the controls. After departing from Melbourne Airport, they attempted landings at airports of their choice around the world, gaining an appreciation for the more advanced systems of a commercial aircraft.

The visit provided valuable insight into the pathways into aviation, with Joshua sharing his own journey from St Kevin's College to the industry and answering students' questions about his career. For many of the boys, the experience further strengthened their ambition to pursue a future as an airline pilot.

Thank you to Joshua and Swinburne University for providing such a valuable learning opportunity.

Our Year 8 students are back at Tooronga for another exciting session of water rocket launches. As part of their Science curriculum, the boys design, build and test their own water rockets, applying the fundamentals of rocket science through hands-on learning.

As they progress through different PSI levels, students analyse each launch and make adjustments to their rockets to improve flight stability, height and distance. It's a fantastic opportunity to apply scientific thinking, problem-solving and teamwork in a practical setting.
