National Champions!

Over the September break, 8 St Kevin’s students from Years 9-11 travelled to Sydney for the Australian Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships. After 3 intense days of competition, St Kevin’s was recognised as the best overall school in the country, defending their 2025 national title.

A special congratulations to James (Year 11) who was awarded first overall, individual national champion, the winner of the Debating category and a grand finalist in 2 others. Well done to Anderson (Year 11) who finished second overall, winning both the Impromptu and After Dinner Speaking categories, and to Thomas (Year 10) who came 6th overall and was a finalist for Impromptu Speaking. These 3 students will now be invited to join the Australian team competing at the 2027 World Championships next April in Shanghai.

Overall, St Kevin’s won 3 of a possible 5 categories, displaying their overall versatility and the discipline, while enjoying the opportunity to interact with and compete with peers from across the country.

It has been a week of farewells for the St Kevin’s College Class of 2026.

In keeping with College tradition, our Year 12 students processed into Smith Hall in their Houses for their Farewell Assembly, joined by Years 10 and 11 and some of their younger siblings.

College Captain Harry’s final address reflected on what it means to be a good young man. Harry, the younger sibling of one of our Year 12 students, also spoke about his older brother’s influence. Each Year 12 stood as his name was read, before a powerful rendition of the College Song concluded the assembly.

Today, the boys arrived in a sea of Where’s Wally outfits before sharing farewell breakfasts in their Houses and bidding farewell to staff.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026. We wish the boys every success in their VCE examinations and look forward to their Valedictory Mass.

Smith Hall became a vibrant gallery on Tuesday evening as we celebrated the creativity and commitment of our VCE students across Art Making and Exhibiting, Product Design and Technologies and Visual Communication Design.

For the first time, selected works from Years 7-10 featured alongside the VCE exhibition, showcasing the breadth of artistic expression across the College.

Behind each work was a journey of experimentation, persistence and growth, with students sharing their individual perspectives and the stories that shaped their creations.

Congratulations to all students involved and thank you to our Art and Design staff for nurturing their creativity, curiosity and confidence.

Our Year 12 students are preparing for their final examinations with a range of programs to support them in achieving their personal best.

During the Term 3 holidays, the September Holiday Revision Program offered more than 50 scheduled activities, including trial examinations, subject lectures and workshops, supported by Year 12 teachers and Old Collegian Academic Tutors.

This week, Café Academus has returned, providing a focused study environment before school where boys can seek guidance from teachers across a range of subjects and work alongside their peers.

Thank you to our staff and Old Collegian tutors for their continued support as the boys approach this important milestone.

Our Year 3 Inquiry Expo was a fantastic celebration of engaging, hands-on learning and creativity. Throughout the term, students explored the unique landscapes, landmarks and attractions that make Australia so special, culminating in impressive dioramas and persuasive digital travel brochures showcasing destinations from across the country.

It was wonderful to see our students proudly presenting their work and engaging with parents, staff and fellow students from across the Glendalough community. Their enthusiasm, knowledge and confidence were on full display as they shared their learning through interactive displays and conversations, making the Expo a memorable celebration of their hard work and achievements.

State Champions!

At the end of Term 3, 4 St Kevin’s teams travelled to Parliament House for the Victorian State Final of the Evatt Trophy Model United Nations competition. From an initial field of over 200 teams across the state, 16 were selected for the day-long final where they debated issues from the protection of persecuted individuals to the benefits of demilitarisation.

After 3 long debates, teams from St Kevin’s managed to finish first and second overall. Congratulations to James and Aspen who were awarded State Champions, as well Jamie and Charlie, who finished 2nd, with both teams now qualifying for the National Championships in Adelaide at the start of December. The opportunity to experience and compete in such an historic setting was invaluable for all students and a fabulous way to end the Term.

The annual Glendalough Staff vs Students Soccer Match provided a spirited conclusion to the term.

Played before a lively crowd of boys and staff, the evenly contested match featured plenty of goals and memorable moments, with enthusiastic support from the sidelines throughout.

Smith Hall came alive with colour, energy and music for this year’s House Singing Competition, as students took to the stage in costume to perform songs by Michael Jackson.

Congratulations to Rahill House, winners of the 2026 House Singing Trophy for their spirited rendition of Bad. Their creativity, choreography and enthusiasm shone through in a memorable performance.

Following a busy term filled with significant events and memorable moments across our College community, we wish all families a safe and restful break.

There is much to look forward to in Term 4, particularly for our Year 12 students as they approach the final stages of their time at the College. We look forward to welcoming many of them back for the September Holiday Revision Program and welcoming our broader community back for the final term of the year.
