We’ve decided to sack Western Port’s PR team. 😂

For far too long, this place has been better known for mud, mangroves and mozzies than the extraordinary world hiding beneath the surface.

But the tide is turning. 🌊

Over the past six months, our tiny but mighty team has captured some incredible stories, made world-first discoveries and somehow managed to get Western Port popping up across TV, radio, newspapers nationally and beyond

No giant budgets. No huge team. Just a bunch of slightly obsessed humans who believe this place deserves its moment. 💙

And we absolutely couldn’t have done it without the scientists, partners, community groups, supporters and wonderful humans who have backed us, shared our stories and helped open doors.

Look what we’ve achieved together already.

And the best bit?

We’re only getting started. The best is yet to come

Because apparently normal people are asleep at midnight… 😂

Meanwhile, we’re crawling around Western Port rockpools with cameras, hunting nudibranchs and octopuses until 2am 🐙🔦

Exhausted? Yep.

Regrets? Absolutely none.

Just another glamorous night filming Western Port Down Under. 😂

No, this isn’t some strange underwater wormhole. 👀

It’s an octopus siphon, AKA the Swiss Army knife of octopus body parts. 🐙

Part breathing apparatus.Part jet engine.Part water cannon.Part waste disposal.

Nature does love a multitasker. 😂

This is what dedication looks like when you’re capturing a little underwater magic. ✨

At 2am, Sheree, Jack, Dr Trav and Des were rockpooling around Phillip Island in single-digit temperatures, filming the fascinating creatures of Western Port. And boy, did it deliver!

We can’t wait to share the magic with you.

🌊 WE MADE THE NEWS… BUT WE’RE ONLY JUST GETTING STARTED 🌊

This week Western Port Down Under featured on 9 News, locally and nationally (thanks to Amber Petty and the fab producers and reporters).

Yes, you saw my mug on screen. But this is so much bigger than one person.

This documentary is still in production and we are actively seeking support to bring it to life properly. Western Port is one of Victoria’s most extraordinary marine ecosystems. It is RAMSAR-listed, globally significant, biologically wild and right on our doorstep. And yet, most people have no idea what lives beneath its surface.

That’s why this project matters.

And here’s the part most people don’t realise…

🎬 This is not just a documentary.

Western Port Down Under is the launchpad for a comprehensive social impact campaign that will include:
• A schools education program
• Community engagement events
• A free online legacy portal housing the stories, science and imagery we capture
• Opportunities for locals to connect, contribute and care

This is about building pride, stewardship and long term protection for the bay.
