Book Week Magic!
This week was one of our favourites of the whole year — Book Week! The children spent each day exploring stories through play, dress‑ups and hands‑on activities.

We transformed our mud kitchen into a Gruffalo kitchen, where the children cooked up Owl ice cream, Gruffalo crumble and roasted Fox. Owl ice cream was the clear favourite!

Inside, the children loved our Dinosaurs in Australia play space, discovering which dinosaurs once lived where we do and role‑playing with their new prehistoric friends.

Tuesday was our Book Week dress‑up day, and the children proudly showed off their amazing costumes — Minecraft, Mario, Frozen, princesses, fairies, animals and so many beloved characters. Educators planned special activities all day, including a colourful Pete the Cat yoghurt play for babies and toddlers, and a big Bear Hunt adventure for Kindy.

Throughout the week we explored stories like Dear Zoo, Pete the Cat, The Gingerbread Man, and more — extending the children’s understanding of characters, feelings and events. Their play shifted as they stepped into the roles of their favourite characters, adapting games to match their stories.

Recently, our veggie garden has been thriving because the rain we have had and the sunny days!
As we began turning over the soil, the children became fascinated by the idea that there could be potatoes hiding underneath. They carefully watched the ground, searching for any little clues that might tell us where to dig next. Every time a potato appeared from beneath the soil, there were lots of excited voices and smiles.
The children were learning that harvesting takes patience, care and teamwork.
There was a real sense of pride as the children looked at the growing collection of potatoes and realized just how many they had found. They then washed every potato, rubbing away the dirt and watching the water change as the soil was removed. This was another exciting part of the process because the children could see their potatoes changing from muddy vegetables straight from the earth into something ready to eat.
Kerry then cut the potatoes into chips and wedges and placed them in the oven to cook. While they waited, the children discussed what they would make if they took some potatoes home. Some said chips, some said mashed potato and some even said vegetables, which gave us a good laugh!
When the hot, fresh wedges were ready, the children sat together and enjoyed eating something they had personally helped to grow, harvest and prepare.

Farewell to Our Elisajane...
Today we said goodbye to our wonderful educator, ElisaJane. It was a day of mixed emotions, tears, gifts, chocolate cake, more tears and lots of cuddles.

Elisajane first joined us when she was just 16 years old, returning to the very centre where Kerry and Danni once cared for her as a little girl. Watching her grow from a bright, bubbly child into a confident, capable educator has been one of our greatest joys.

As one of the children said today, “She has to go to work now.” And it’s true... she’s spreading her wings, stepping into new adventures, and taking all her kindness, humour, and heart with her.
We will all miss you, Elisa, and you will forever have a place here... in our centre, in our team, and in our hearts.
Your journey with us may be changing, but your impact will never fade.
