When was the last time your workplace actually tested its emergency plan?
Having an emergency procedure written down is one thing.
Knowing what happens when something goes wrong is another.
Ask yourself:
👉 Do your staff know who takes charge?
👉 Does everyone know where to go?
👉 Are emergency contacts current?
👉 Could someone locate the first aid kit quickly?
👉 Does everyone know where the AED is?
👉 What happens if the usual person responsible isn't at work?
Emergency preparedness isn't about expecting something to go wrong.
It's about being ready if it does.
This is something we'll be exploring throughout our Mid North Coast Safety Handbook series — practical safety information designed to help workplaces and communities become better prepared.

Training shouldn't create more work. It should remove it.
For businesses, keeping track of who needs what training, when certificates expire and who needs a refresher can quickly become another job on the to-do list.
That's why we integrate Training Desk into the way we work with our business clients.
From one place, businesses can manage:
✔ Training records
✔ Certificates
✔ Competency currency
✔ Renewal reminders
✔ Employee training progress
Less chasing. Less paperwork. More visibility.
At SALT Training Academy, we're focused on making training practical before, during and after the course.

And just like that… Friday!
Another week of training, travelling, setting up, packing down, meeting some great people and hopefully leaving a few workplaces a little safer than we found them.
There’s something pretty special about running a local family business.
We get to work with businesses, schools, community groups and individuals right across the Mid North Coast — and we get to see firsthand just how many good people are out there doing their bit.
This week has also given us another chance to appreciate how far SALT has come.
From starting out as a small family business to being recognised locally and now becoming a finalist in the Mid North Coast Regional NSW Business Awards – Outstanding New Business, we’re feeling very grateful.
We don't take any of it for granted.
So before we head into the weekend, thank you to everyone who has trained with us, recommended us, supported us or simply stopped for a chat.
Have a great weekend, Mid North Coast.
And remember… if your weekend plans involve something dangerous, please at least make sure someone in the group knows First Aid. 😉

Things you learn when your workplace is wherever the training is… 🚐
You learn that:
☕ Coffee is essential equipment.
🧰 There is always something that needs loading into the van.
📍 “It’s just around the corner” means very different things on the Mid North Coast. 😂
🌦️ The weather can have a surprisingly large say in your day.
👋 You meet some genuinely great people.
🚐 And eventually, you become very familiar with every road between Port Macquarie and everywhere else!
One of the things we love about SALT is that we don't spend every day in the same room.
We get to take the training to workplaces, schools, community groups and local organisations — whether that's in a training room, on a worksite or somewhere completely unexpected.
Different locations. Different people. Different challenges.
But always the same goal:
Give people practical skills and confidence that could genuinely make a difference when it matters.
That's what keeps the job interesting.
And yes… we still pack the coffee first. ☕😉
Where has work taken you this week?

Monday morning reality check… 😅
It’s been a pretty exciting few weeks here at SALT Training Academy.
A local award. 🏆
A finalist announcement in the Mid North Coast Regional NSW Business Awards – Outstanding New Business. 🎉
Courses across the Mid North Coast.
Onsite training.
Our mobile training unit getting plenty of kilometres under its belt.
And somewhere in amongst all of that, we’re still trying to remember where we left the coffee. ☕😂
We’re incredibly grateful for how much support our family business has received from the local community.
From Port Macquarie to Wauchope, Bonny Hills, Kempsey, Crescent Head and beyond — it’s the people we meet along the way that make this business what it is.
So, rather than another Monday sales pitch, we’ll just say thank you.
Thanks for supporting local, choosing local and letting us do what we love.
Now… where’s that coffee?

A wonderful way to finish the week! 🎉
On Friday, we were incredibly proud to be announced as a finalist in the Mid North Coast Regional NSW Business Awards – Outstanding New Business.
For our family-owned business, this recognition means a great deal. We’re grateful to everyone who has supported SALT Training Academy, trained with us, referred us, worked with us and helped us grow.
What started as a small family business has grown into something we’re genuinely proud of, and being recognised alongside so many outstanding businesses across our region is an honour.
A huge thank you to our customers, supporters, our community and Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909 for being part of the journey.
We’re looking forward to celebrating with the other finalists and continuing to do what we love — delivering quality training and supporting safer workplaces across the Mid North Coast.
Thank you for being part of the SALT journey!

Quick question…
If someone collapsed in front of you right now, would you know what to do?
Not what you're supposed to do.
Not what you vaguely remember from a course years ago.
But actually know what to do?
For many people, the answer is probably somewhere between “yes” and “I hope so.” 😬
And that's exactly why refreshing your skills matters.
First aid and CPR aren't skills we use every day — thankfully.
But when the moment comes, having practised the basics can make all the difference.
So here's the challenge for the weekend:
👉 When was the last time you refreshed your first aid or CPR skills?
And be honest… do you remember what the first thing you should do is?
Drop your answer below. 👇

One of the best things about training on the Mid North Coast?
We get to meet an incredible mix of people.
One day we might be working with a local business team. The next, a construction crew, school staff, community group or someone simply wanting to refresh their first aid and CPR skills.
Different workplaces. Different backgrounds. Different reasons for being there.
But the same goal — being better prepared when it matters.
Being a family-owned local business, we don't take that trust for granted.
Every person who trains with us becomes part of the SALT community, and every course is another opportunity to help make our workplaces, sporting clubs, schools and communities a little safer.
That's what local training looks like to us. ❤
