Lessen your kitchen waste. Buy a reusable/non aerosol sprayer and fill with oil to use in frypans or baking dishes ( instead of using spray on oil)

For my friends and others in Perth FOGO bin areas there have been changes made to what is allowed in your food and organics bin as from 1/7/26.
* NO DOG POO ALLOWED
* NO CONTAMINATED PIZZA BOXES
Remember, dog poo is easy to compost in a worm tube, just keep it away from veges as the pathogens take up to 6 months to break down but dog poo is a valuable food source for your microbes. Just throw in a bit of food waste to attract the microbes and keep thecsoil around and in the wirm tube moist to help the microbes movecaround and digest the organic matter.

Another great sustainability activity with Switch Your Thinking . Today I was demonstrating how easy and inexpensive it is to ditch single use plastic and make beeswax foodwraps with the Town of Victoria Park .( and also lip balms). It was wonderful to see a family with 3 generations participating.

Winter in my garden. Lettuces do so well in winter! Dont forget to pack your plants in. They look after each other above and below the ground, in conjunction with the microbes. I have 3 types of lettuce, parsley, red mustard a broccolli, a cabbage, strawberries, 2 x pineapples and spring onions in this bath tub. The bird netting is to keep my hens and guinea fowl out! They are free to graze all around to look for bugs.

Another plastic reduction. This juice I bought today in Byford is a 10c returnable container with the Containers for Change program but the added advantage of a valuable 99% recycable alfoil lid, not the low quality plastic lids that are problematic to recycle and reuse. (JUST REMEMBER TO SAVE ENOUGH TO ROLL INTO A TENNIS BALL SHAPE BEFOTE PLACING IN THE YELLOW TOPPED KERBSIDE RECYCLING BIN). Although, in WA, glass is not washed and reused it is crushed and used in roadbase construction. Maybe one day we will see that change but probably not for a long time because of the cosys associated in a relatively low population/large land mass.
