Chicago Teen THS update!

A huge congratulations to our Year 12 Captains, Isaac Adams and Amelia Speairs, who organised and ran an exciting House Dodgeball Competition throughout Week 8!

Each recess saw students battle it out in a series of house-versus-house matchups, with plenty of energy, teamwork, and friendly rivalry on display. With well over 100 students participating each recess, the competition was a massive success and quickly became a highlight of the week.

After some thrilling contests, Blair House emerged as the overall champions! 🏆

Thank you to Isaac and Amelia for their leadership and organisation, and to all the students who got involved and made the competition such a fun and positive event for our school community.

On Thursday, Ms Robertson and two students from Years 10 and 11 attended the ResourceSmart School Awards at the MCG, hosted by Sustainability Victoria. It was a fun, full and inspiring day, learning about the incredible work schools across Victoria are doing to reduce their carbon footprint. Exciting times for THS as we continue our own sustainability journey! 🌱

🏆💙 More Victorian Representatives for Thornbury High! 💙🏆

We are thrilled to celebrate two more of our talented student athletes who will be representing Victoria next month in their respective sports!

💦 Olivia Munro (Year 8 ) has been selected in the Victoria Under 13 Water Polo Team and will compete at the National Water Polo Carnival.

🏑 Rosie Ingham (Year 10) has been selected in the School Sport Victoria 15 Years & Under Hockey Team and will compete at the School Sport Australia Championships in July at the State Netball and Hockey Centre, Parkville.

To represent Victoria is an incredible achievement and a reflection of the hard work, commitment, and talent both students have shown in their sports.

We are extremely proud of Olivia and Rosie and wish them every success at their upcoming events! 💙💛

Huge achievement for Georgia Petropoulos (Year 10), who has been selected in the School Sport Victoria (SSV) 18 Years & Under Soccer Team. 🎉⚽

Georgia will represent Victoria at the School Sport Australia Championships this July, hosted in Melbourne at the iconic Home of the Matildas. This is a fantastic accomplishment and recognition of her talent, dedication, and hard work. The championships will bring together the best school-aged players from across Australia.

Congratulations, Georgia! We are incredibly proud of you and wish you all the best as you represent Victoria on the national stage. 💙💛⚽👏

VCE Theatre Studies braved the cold and ventured out into wintery Brunswick to see Rakali at the Mechanic’s Institute as part of their studies.

It was a great group of students, seeing a powerful Australian Gothic work while strengthening their understanding of Le Coq physical theatre.

We highly recommend Rakali! ♥️🐀🎭

Thornbury High musicians just presented their hard work at our annual Mid Year Music Concert, where our beautiful, supportive audience enjoyed small ensembles, junior extension bands, middle and senior classroom bands, and our school’s Stage and Concert Bands. It was a wonderful evening, showcasing our students’ efforts and artistry! ♥️🎺🥁🎷🥳

Thornbury High Italian and Theatre Studies students were incredibly lucky to see a live Commedia dell’arte performance: “Bromance” by the wonderful company Make a Scene!

The performance was energetic, hilarious, and highly engaging, bringing the conventions of Commedia dell’arte to life through physical comedy, improvisation, masks, audience interaction, and larger-than-life characters.

Big day at the Darebin Athletics Carnival at Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium on Friday, 29 May! ☀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

With perfect weather for most of the day, close to 70 Thornbury High students competed and represented the school with pride. There were plenty of strong performances, with ribbons won across a range of events.

Congratulations to all students who competed, and a special shout-out to our event winners, who have now qualified for the North Metro Region Athletics Carnival in Term 3. We wish them all the best for the next stage of competition!
