Spending the day with Robert Gray… 🙂
One of the exciting things for me as a teacher is the challenge of knowing and understanding all of the texts that my students are studying in their senior courses. I have the honour of preparing content for each student to help them work towards their goals. As a classroom teacher, this was always a goal of mine, but it’s almost impossible to create meaningful content for each student when there are 30 in the room. This is one reason why I’m passionate about the power of tutoring!
I’m excited to get into the Term 1 content this week with my Year 11 and 12 students.

Welcome to 2023! A new year is a great opportunity for students to have a fresh start at school.

My weekly sessions have a strong focus on building skills in analysing texts, paragraphing and essay writing. I'm passionate about working with teenagers and helping them to feel more confident about getting their ideas onto paper.

That's a wrap! I've really enjoyed working with my Year 12 Standard and Advanced students this term and feel privileged to be able to support them in a way that just isn't possible when teaching in a regular classroom.

Year 12 students might find that their school is studying a different Module than the one that I have planned for. If your child is studying a different Module in Term 1 and you're interested in enrolling them in a course, please contact me.

Year 12 students all over the state are starting to think about their first Assessment Task and wondering how they’re going to find a great “related text.”
I thought I’d share my top 4 tips for choosing a text that will help you shine in this task.
Weekly tutoring helps students to navigate the HSC course with confidence. I still have some spaces in my small groups for new Year 12 students and the Year 11 courses for 2023 are filling up quickly.
Sessions are run out of Thirroul Library and are capped at 6 students per class.
- Year 12 classes are $85 for 1.5 hours.
- Year 11 classes are $65 for an hour.

I’m looking forward to sinking my teeth into this incredible novel again these holidays. No matter how many times I read it, I find myself confronted by how close Orwell came to predicting the future.
Orwell’s haunting dystopian novel “1984” is one of the most popular text choices for the first unit of the HSC Course: Texts and Human Experiences. It can be an intense first novel for students at the start of the HSC and many find themselves relying on online study notes to wade through the text.
