This week the Sugargliders enjoyed a special excursion to Linn Gordon Reserve as part of Clean Up Australia Day.

We began our morning by revisiting our safety expectations holding onto our rings, keeping our listening ears on, and using our walking feet. The children confidently shared how we keep ourselves and each other safe in the community.

Before leaving, we read My Map, My Community, which helped us identify the places we would see and walk past on our journey. With hats and sunscreen on, a toilet stop complete, and our bodies linked to the rings, we called the roll and set off together.

When we arrived at the reserve, we enjoyed morning tea surrounded by nature. The children delighted in collecting flowers and sharing “a little happy dance” before exploring further. We crossed the bridge, noticed the creek, and observed the birds in the trees.

Soon it was time to take action for our environment. Gloves on and bags ready, the children eagerly began collecting rubbish. Some shared that their favourite part was “picking up rubbish,” while others enjoyed “collecting sticks,” “collecting leaves,” and even “picking up grass.” We discovered not only litter but also many natural treasures along the way.
The walk itself was a highlight for many “walking on the pathway,” “going across the bridge,” and simply “the walk down to the reserve.” The experience of caring for our local environment gave the children a strong sense of belonging and responsibility within their community.

What a wonderful way to connect with our community and take positive action together! 🌿

Our beautiful Sugargliders children had the most heart-warming excursion in our local community ❤️

After spending the week carefully creating their own Valentine’s Day crafts, the children were so excited to head out and share their handmade treasures with members of our community. With proud smiles and little hands holding big creations, they delivered their heartfelt gifts and spread so much joy along the way.

This experience was about so much more than craft. It was about kindness, connection, confidence and understanding the importance of giving back. The children practised community awareness, social skills and empathy — and truly saw how a simple act of kindness can brighten someone’s day.

We are so proud of our Sugargliders for representing our centre with such warmth and confidence. What a beautiful way to celebrate Valentine’s Day — by sharing love beyond our centre 💕

Caring for nature is an important part of our centre’s philosophy, and it’s something our children experience every day in meaningful ways. Recently, the children have been actively involved in caring for our environment ! The Sugargliders have created a Eco Warrior timetable for each child to have the chance to water the garden, check on our plants, and helping to look after our animals, including our chickens.

Through these experiences, children are learning to respect and nurture living things, developing empathy, responsibility, and a strong connection to the natural world. They take pride in their roles and are beginning to understand how their actions contribute to the wellbeing of our environment.

This weekend, Kaz is going to purchase us some new seedlings for our garden, and the children are looking forward to planting them and continuing to care for our growing space. As our garden grows, so too does the children’s understanding of sustainability, teamwork, and caring for our world — values that sit at the heart of our centre’s philosophy. 🌿💚

We’re excited to share some wonderful news with our Pegasus families!

Our current Nominated Supervisor, Caitlin, will be stepping into a new role as General Manager. This is an exciting opportunity that recognises Caitlin’s leadership, dedication, and commitment to high-quality early childhood education.

We want to reassure all families that Caitlin will still be very much present at the centre. She will continue to be actively involved, supporting the team, mentoring the new Nominated Supervisor once appointed, and spending time getting to know all our children, families, and educators.

Most importantly, families can be confident that the “Pegasus” way of teaching, learning, and caring will continue as normal. Our values, philosophy, and commitment to providing a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for every child remain unchanged.

Please see a link to the job advertisement in case you may know anyone interested in the job!

Thank you for your continued trust and support. If you have any questions, please feel free to speak with Caitlin or a member of the leadership team.

Warm regards,
The Pegasus Team 💙

Pegasus on Victoria is seeking an experienced and passionate Nominated Supervisor to join our welcoming and family run centre.

During Pyjama Week, the children were able to the importance of raising awareness and funds for children in foster care through The Pyjama Foundation. We discussed different types of families, taking time to talk about our own family structures and sharing our ideas with each other. Group literacy activities helped us recognise and appreciate the diversity of family types in our classroom. Through these experiences, children were encouraged to talk about their families and to think about the world around them.

By engaging the children in conversations about Pyjama Week and the purpose behind it, they were provided with opportunities to develop empathy and understanding for peers in foster care, helping children develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities. Using group discussions and literacy allowed children to learn about differences and similarities among their peers in a supportive way, fostering a positive and inclusive environment in line with our philosophy to celebrate diversity and broaden children’s worldview.

A little recap from our Reconciliation week learning
🖤❤️💛 💚💙🤍
Bridging Now to Next- 27th May - 3rd June

National Reconciliation week, is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia

During the week the children participated in high quality planned experiences that promoted and enhanced their awareness and knowledge about reconciliation. As Indigenous education is a large part of our Pegasus philosophy the children have such topics embedded into the program provided to them everyday- but all educators feel during weeks such as Reconciliation week it is vital the children are empowered with knowledge for Reconciliation for our First Nations people 🖤❤️💛 💚💙🤍
