Sad news - we could not get him to our infamous annual Loooong Lunch
He was always somewhere else in the world
Well remembered 👍✅

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Sir Sam Neill (7200), one of Christ’s College’s most distinguished Old Boys.

Sir Sam’s remarkable career took him from the classrooms of College to the world stage, where he became one of New Zealand’s most celebrated and respected actors. His extraordinary body of work, spanning more than five decades, included unforgettable performances in Jurassic Park, The Piano, Dead Calm, The Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Peaky Blinders, and countless other acclaimed films and television productions.

While his talent earned him international recognition, Sir Sam was also admired for his intelligence, wit, humility, and generosity. He remained proudly connected to New Zealand throughout his life and was knighted in 2022 in recognition of his outstanding services to acting.

Sir Sam’s legacy will endure through his remarkable contribution to film and the arts, and he will be remembered with great pride by the Christ’s College community.

Our sincere condolences are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Vale, Sir Sam Neill (7200).

Pres Mark Armstrong lead the Haka and sang the College song (Haka has changed and theres no College song now) Mark had obviously done some homework 👏👏👍
Everyone gave an update (some guilty of over sharing 🤣)
Who was there?
Pres Mark Armstrong 8319, sec Andrew Adams 12439, Paul Fleetwood 7291, Paul McDonald 11316, Tim Turnbull 11041, Nicholas McDonald 8243, Jeremy Hobbs 8367, Dean Rawlings 13314, Mike Lawry 12971, Chris Hughes 9840, Hamish Studholme 9770, John Studholme 9383, Malcolm Garder 7155, James Higginson 15280,

This get together has a great reputation - years ago it was $ inc drinks which meant everyone staying till the $ ran out eg 6-7pm 🥴
