⚽️🏆 WINNERS! 🏆⚽️

Congratulations to our boys futsal team on being crowned NNSW Futsal Champions of Champions today at Niagara Park!

The team was outstanding throughout the tournament, going undefeated all day before finishing in style with a dominant 5–0 victory in the Grand Final.

A huge thank you to Crystian for coaching the boys to success and guiding them to become a champion team over the past two years.

Most importantly, the boys represented their school with pride, displayed outstanding sportsmanship and created lasting memories.

At Newcastle East Public School, we are proud to celebrate the collective work our staff have been doing to strengthen explicit teaching across K–6.

Through a shared focus on clear routines, consistent expectations, daily reviews, checking for understanding and strong lesson structure, our classrooms are becoming even more focused, purposeful and connected.

This work has not happened overnight. It reflects the commitment of our teachers to refine practice, learn together and create the conditions where every student knows what they are learning, what success looks like and how to take the next step.

High expectations for learning continues to be a key focus across our school, with students
demonstrating pride and care in the presentation of their work. Through explicit teaching, consistent routines, teacher modelling and ongoing feedback, students are developing strong habits that support organisation, accuracy and attention to detail.

Outstanding book work reflects more than neat presentation, it showcases students' commitment to learning, persistence when faced with challenges, and pride in producing their best work. These skills are being celebrated across all classrooms and contribute to a positive culture of high expectations and academic excellence.

A huge congratulations to the students featured for their outstanding effort and dedication. We are incredibly proud of the way they are representing our school values through their learning every day. Well done, superstars!

As our Canberra excursion comes to an end, we'd like to acknowledge the staff who helped make this experience possible. From the months of planning beforehand to the busy days and late nights away, they have ensured our students could learn, explore and create lasting memories together.
Over the past few days, our staff have shared in the excitement, laughter and unforgettable moments that happen when learning extends beyond the classroom. They have encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones, celebrated their achievements and supported them through new challenges and opportunities.
Our students have benefited enormously from this experience, and we hope the friendships strengthened, lessons learnt and memories made over the past few days will be treasured for years to come.

One of the highlights of our evening at Questacon was watching so many students take on Free Fall!

For some, it was pure excitement. For others, it meant facing a real fear of heights and finding the courage to step over the edge anyway. With plenty of encouragement, cheering and support from their peers, our students showed incredible bravery and determination.

We are so proud of every student who gave it a go, even if they didn't make it all the way.

Our final official stop in Canberra took us to the Australian Institute of Sport! 🏅🏊‍♀️🏐
Our students had a fantastic time exploring Sportex, testing their skills and challenging each other in a range of interactive activities. We then toured the AIS facilities, getting a behind-the-scenes look at where some of Australia's elite athletes train. Highlights included seeing the swimming pool, volleyball courts, gym, gymnastics centre and the arena.

Our final evening in Canberra was spent at Questacon, and it certainly lived up to the excitement! It was the activity many of our students had been eagerly anticipating, and it did not disappoint. From hands-on exhibits to interactive challenges, there was something to capture everyone's curiosity and imagination. By the end of the night, there were definitely some very tired bodies, but the excitement and memories made it all worthwhile.

This afternoon, students visited the Royal Australian Mint and learned about how Australia's coins are designed and produced. We then enjoyed afternoon tea by the beautiful Lake Burley Griffin before taking a driving tour of Canberra's embassies on the way home.
