We specialize in education & training worldwide. We also provide daily Permaculture news and info. The Mission of the Permaculture Research Institute is to work with individuals and communities worldwide, to expand the knowledge and practice of integrated, sustainable agriculture and culture using the whole-systems approach of permaculture design. This will provide solutions for permanent abundanc

e by training local people to become leaders of sustainable development in their communities and countries. The Permaculture Research Institute offers advice and information on establishing a Permaculture Educational Demonstration sites, which operate as education centres that seek to replicate themselves across their respective surrounding regions. Each demonstration site seeks to become financially self-sufficient as quickly as possible through both reducing the need for cash inputs by providing as much of their own needs, sustainably, from the land-base of the project itself, and through selling knowledge – running courses to help others follow their example. Each educational demonstration site thus works to build communities around them where locals can re-skill and transition to live resilient lives independent of the globalised, industrial system. Each site can provide local employment for permaculture a teacher, project/farm manager, and administrator. These positions will also provide mentoring for students as advanced training for permaculture project work. Assistance for such projects can come by way of students from wealthier countries/situations subsidising the training of local people through their course attendance and fees, whilst those students simultaneously gain benefits in cultural exchange and exposure to local, traditional skills. Local students, in turn, also learn to appreciate the instruction, as the presence of international students helps them gain confidence in the value of the course. Courses need to specialise in the appropriate technologies and systems specific to each location, both culturally and biologically. It has been very rewarding to be a part of this initiative in Jordan, bringing more than thirty years of garnered expertise, establishing permaculture in different locations worldwide.

We look forwards to assisting the spread of this essential knowledge, as we progress into increasingly uncertain times.

We believe permaculture can offer real and lasting solutions - but there must be political will and follow-through.

With the Reslient Water Solutions Against Climate Change initiative and the Adaption Fund, we can see positive movement in this area.

Thank you to everyone who is helping this become a reality.

In the face of growing climate challenges, the “Resilient Water Solutions Against Climate Change in Jordan and Lebanon” project led by UN-Habitat and funded by Adaptation FundFund, has taken a groundbreaking step by developing a practical guide on permaculture for arid regions.

This comprehensive resource empowers agricultural practitioners with innovative strategies and resilient solutions to sustain their crops and adapt to the far-reaching impacts of climate change.

The development and implementation of this guide and its training curricula are being expertly overseen by Permaculture Research Institute of Australiaalia. Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia - ESCWASUN Jordan الأمم المتحدة - الأردنأردن

The ideal way to spend one's time is perfecting the expression of life itself. To evolve by assisting life forms to fully express themselves. Beautiful and very inspiring. Now, more than ever, it is important to learn how to live more closely with the earth, in a practical sense.

How can we increase our access to high quality food without damaging the environment that sustains us?

Maybe all we need do is to make the connection that food, if it is high quality, will be grown in such a way that intrinsically reduces harm to the natural world.

Reduces carbon loss, soil erosion, evaporation, nutrient depletion, loss of biodiversity and the reduction of biological buffers that mitigate climate stresses.

What is this 'way' of growing food, that cares for the earth, its creatures and people?

This 'way' of growing food, and of living with Nature, that replenishes soil carbon, the currency of life, retaining moisture and nutrient while increasing biodiversity and beneficial connections that enable the biological buffers to moderate the environment for us.

The March PDC at Greening The Desert Project, Jordan is still going ahead; and if you are interested in drylands style permaculture then this location is a must see.

Despite instability in the surrounding region, the Kingdom of Jordan itself remains safe and stable. Without access to media, you would not even know that conflict exits in various neighbouring countries.

I have been living in Jordan this past two months, and can personally speak to this [Darren Hey].

Numbers for this PDC will be lower, for this reason, so if you are wanting more personalised attention from your course teacher, then this is another opportunity.

Take your PDC in Jordan with Geoff Lawton. Become a certified permaculture designer, learn to design beautiful abundant organic gardens. 100% Sustainable...

Is there a need for humus or humic acid products? Why do we add humic acid to soil? Are these products worth the money spent? What can we use instead of humus? Is what you buy called humic acid really humic acid?
