A quick studio update... 🌿

I’ll be taking a short break from teaching while I take part in this year’s Noosa Open Studios.
From Friday 14th - Sunday 23rd August, you’ll find me exhibiting from a beautiful shared studio in Doonan with ceramicist Lenni Green (Hey Sunshine by Lenni Green).

During this time, all classes and Open Studio sessions at Mark Makers Art Studio will be paused and will resume as normal from Monday 24 August.
If you’ve never explored Noosa Open Studios before, I really encourage you to make a day of it. Step inside artists’ studios, have a chat, ask questions and see where the work is made.

As a little bonus, I’m also excited to share that one of my recent works has been selected as a finalist in the Pomona Railway Station Gallery Local Emerging Artist Prize 🥰
You’ll be able to get a sneak peek of that work during Noosa Open Studios too!
Lenni & I look forward to seeing you in Doonan. 🌿

After a lot of thought, I have made the very difficult decision to pause the after school art classes for Term 3.
After attending Monday night’s community meeting regarding the Doonella Bridge works, and experiencing the impact of the changed traffic conditions throughout last week with some clients unable to get to the studio, I have become increasingly concerned about what this may look like once schools return.
I have already had families withdraw due to the additional travel time, and I don’t feel comfortable expecting families to navigate unpredictable traffic conditions to attend a 75 minute art class. There is also the possibility that further withdrawals once the term begins could leave classes no longer viable.
This has been a really difficult decision. I love working with my after-school students and was genuinely looking forward to welcoming everyone back next week. However, with so much uncertainty around what the coming weeks will look like, pausing classes for Term 3 feels like the most responsible decision for both families and the studio.
Open Studio sessions will continue as usual, and I hope to welcome our after school students back for Term 4 once we have a clearer understanding of the ongoing traffic conditions.
Thank you for your understanding, and please continue supporting Tewantin’s small businesses during what is going to be a challenging few months. 💛

🚧 A quick check-in for our after-school art families...
As many of you will already know, the Doonella Bridge roadworks have now begun and are expected to continue for around six months.
I know this has been a big topic of conversation in the community, particularly for those travelling into Tewantin after school. With such a tight timeframe between school pickup and class, I completely understand that the detour may make things more challenging for some families.
Before finalising my Term 3 classes, I'd really appreciate hearing from those who are enrolled or were planning to enrol.
💬 Will the detour affect your ability to get to classes?
💬 Will you still be attending as normal, or are you reconsidering because of the extra travel time?
Your feedback will really help me make informed decisions about running classes over the coming months.
Feel free to comment below or send me a private message if you prefer.

Most people don’t stop making art because they “can’t do it”.
They stop because they’re afraid of getting it wrong.
This workshop is about letting go of that.
We’ll experiment with colour, texture, layering and mark-making while creating a mini sketchbook full of ideas, exploration and unexpected outcomes.
No pressure. No experience needed. Just a chance to loosen up creatively in a supportive small group environment.
