Keleah's Early Learning & Development, Terrigal Licenced for 25 children - 0-6 year olds. Operating Hours: 07:00-18:00 Monday-Friday. Our daily fee

As of 27th November 2015 Terrigal Grove Preschool came under new ownership. The new owners, Keleah’s Early Learning & Development are passionate about their roles as educators. We believe that early childhood education is essential in the growth and development of young children. Families are the first and most important educators in a child’s life and at Keleah’s we aim to continue that quality o

f care by creating a warm, caring environment that gives each individual child the opportunity to Be, Belong & Become to their full potential. We believe that children learn through play – exploring and taking in their environment around them. Our aim is to ensure that our care environment provides as much opportunity and experiences to foster the children’s development of their cognitive, physical, social & emotional, language, creative and communication skills. Even more important is the environment of the children’s home, culture and religious beliefs and this will be respected and incorporated when possible within our service. We believe that parents know their children best and to ensure quality service it is important for families to be involved as much as possible with the child’s time in our care. Clear communication and regular contact is encouraged to ensure that your child’s needs are met.

🥳Happy Birthday, Lili! 🥳

Yesterday we celebrated Lili’s special day with lots of joy and laughter. The children loved singing Happy Birthday, sharing delicious cupcakes, and surprising her with their beautiful handmade cards 💛

Moments like these reflect the heart of our program—building strong, respectful relationships and creating a sense of belonging for both children and educators. Through celebrations, the children engage in meaningful social experiences, express creativity, and develop confidence as active participants in our learning community.

✨ In line with the EYLF, this experience supports children in developing a strong sense of identity and connectedness with others.✨ It also aligns with the NQS, particularly Quality Area 1 (Educational Program and Practice) and Quality Area 5 (Relationships with Children), as we foster inclusive, engaging, and relationship-focused environments.

Thank you, Lili, for all that you bring to our centre—we hope you felt very special 🫶

Today we celebrated our wonderful team member Prakash’s (belated) birthday! 🎉
The children loved gathering together to surprise Prakash as we sung Happy Birthday. These joyful moments help build strong relationships and a sense of belonging within our centre community.

To make the day extra special, our team also enjoyed a delicious Kit Kat cake and traditional Nepalese food for lunch, giving Prakash a small taste of home while celebrating with us.

Celebrating the people and cultures within our centre supports children to develop respect, belonging and an appreciation of diversity, aligning with the National Quality Standard – Quality Area 5 (Relationships with Children) and Quality Area 6 (Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Communities), as well as EYLF Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world.

Happy Birthday Prakash! We are so grateful to have you as part of our team. 🎂

Today in our School Readiness Program, the children were exploring phonics by matching letter tiles to recreate words. Through hands-on, play-based experiences like this, children are developing an understanding that letters represent sounds — a foundational skill for reading and writing success in the early years.

By manipulating the tiles, sounding out letters and visually recognising word patterns, children are building confidence in decoding and early spelling. These intentional teaching moments align with the Early Years Learning Framework, particularly Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators, as children engage with symbols, sounds and written language in meaningful ways.

Our practice is guided by the National Quality Standard, with strong links to Quality Area 1 (Educational Program and Practice) through purposeful, evidence-informed literacy experiences, and Quality Area 4 (Staffing Arrangements) as our qualified educators intentionally scaffold each child’s learning based on their individual development.

We are proud to have a highly qualified, passionate team committed to delivering rich, research-based early learning experiences that truly prepare children for school and beyond.

If you’d love to learn more about our School Readiness Program, we’d love to chat.

🌿 Fresh From Our Garden 🌿

Today the children have been busy in our garden, carefully picking fresh herbs and engaging all of their senses as they explored the different smells, tastes and textures. Experiences like this support children to build a strong connection with the natural world, aligning with EYLF Outcome 2 as they develop respect for and understanding of their environment. 🌏

As the children smelt, tasted and described each herb, they used rich, descriptive language and shared their thoughts with peers, strengthening communication skills in line with EYLF Outcome 5. Their curiosity, questioning and hands-on investigation also reflect EYLF Outcome 4, as children become confident and involved learners through meaningful, real-life experiences.

Our garden continues to be a valued part of our learning environment, supporting NQS Quality Area 3 by providing opportunities for children to engage with natural materials and sustainable practices. The intentional extension of this experience — adding the freshly picked herbs into play dough tomorrow — reflects our commitment to NQS Quality Area 1, where learning is thoughtfully planned to build on children’s interests and deepen exploration.

We can’t wait to see where their sensory discoveries lead next! 🌿✨

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Chrystal from Baarang to our centre to share her knowledge about the land we live on. 🌿

We learnt the Darkinjung word for emu — Dinam — explored real emu feathers and even used a torch to peek inside an emu egg… fun fact: the inside is white!

The children then created their own emu masks, and Kellie shared photos of her neighbours’ pet emus, which sparked so many wonderful conversations about our local wildlife.

This experience links beautifully to EYLF Outcome 2 – Children are connected with and contribute to their world, as we continue building understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and Country. 🖤💛❤️

Each year, our wonderful neighbours gather their old Christmas cards and gift them to our preschool — a tradition that has become a much-loved link between our centre and our community. This simple act of generosity creates a meaningful connection, showing the children how people around them contribute to their learning in positive and thoughtful ways.

With these collected cards, the children have been busy repurposing and recreating their own festive designs. Through cutting, pasting, sorting images, and combining colours and textures, they bring new life to old materials while exploring their own imagination and creativity.

This experience supports children to:
🎄 Build a sense of belonging within the community
🎅 Engage in sustainable practices
🎄 Express themselves through creative arts
🎅 Develop fine motor and problem-solving skills
🎄 Understand traditions and celebrations

• Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity (community belonging)
• Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world
• Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners
• Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators

• QA1: Educational Program and Practice
• QA3: Physical Environment (sustainability practices)

We are in the final stages of completing our children’s 2025 learning portfolios, and we can’t wait to share them with our families. These portfolios are a beautiful reflection of each child’s unique journey throughout the year — a celebration of their growth, their strengths, and the learning moments that shaped them.

Each portfolio includes:
✔️ Individual developmental goals
✔️ Summative assessments
✔️ Special events and meaningful experiences
✔️ Artworks and creative projects
✔️ Developmental checklists

Behind each one is the care, dedication and professionalism of our teaching team, who thoughtfully curate these documents with pride. Our educators invest hours ensuring every portfolio is meaningful, accurate, and beautifully presented — something children can treasure for years to come, long after they’ve moved into their next stage of learning.

Honouring children’s learning in this way aligns with the EYLF Learning Outcomes and the Principles of Ongoing Learning & Reflective Practice, as well as NQS Quality Area 1 (Educational Program and Practice) — ensuring children’s learning is documented, valued, and celebrated.

We’re so proud of every child and the incredible journey they have taken in 2025. 💜💚🩷💙

In our program, children’s voices aren’t just heard — they’re embedded in everything we do. Even our Preschool Graduation menu was shaped by the ideas of our amazing graduates!

A big thank you to Tessa and Millie, two of our soon-to-be school starters, for sharing their suggestions and helping create a menu that reflects what they love and value. 🍉🍎🥝

…And a huge shout-out to Demi, our incredible trainee, for bringing their ideas to life and thoughtfully putting the menu together. Your creativity and initiative shine through in every detail! 🌻🫶

By honouring children’s perspectives, we’re aligning with the EYLF principles of Children’s Agency and Collaborative Partnerships, and meeting NQS Quality Area 1 (Educational Program and Practice) — where children’s ideas, interests and strengths guide meaningful learning experiences.

We had an amazing time celebrating our graduates with a menu crafted for them and by them. 🎓💙🩷💚💜🎓

🌟 Important Announcement & Heartfelt Farewell 🌟

As we approach the end of the year, we would like to share with our families and community that our Co-Director and owner Leah will be finishing up her time with us as she steps into an exciting new career path.

While we are saddened to see her go, we are incredibly proud of her for embracing this next chapter. Over the years, Leah has contributed so much to our centre—supporting our team, building strong relationships with families, and helping shape the quality and culture we value so deeply.

We are grateful for her dedication, her leadership, and the passion she has brought to our service. She will be dearly missed by staff, children, families, and of course, by me personally.

Please join us in wishing Leah all the very best as she begins this new journey. We know she will continue to make a difference wherever she goes.

Leah’s final day will be 24th December 2025. 💙🩷💚💜

You can rest assure Kellie is not going anywhere and is looking forward to an exciting start to 2026 with the children, families and team.

We would like to thank everyone for their support during this transition. 🌻
