Sydney Japanese International School - シドニー日本人国際学校 Welcome to the Sydney Japanese International School. At SJIS we seek to achieve academic excellence in all key learning areas.

We are a bilingual, bicultural, non-denominational school situated in the leafy suburb of Terrey Hills on the beautiful Northern Beaches of Sydney. Sydney Japanese International School (SJIS) is a bilingual international school located on Sydney’s North Shore, Australia. The International Division delivers the Australian Curriculum from Kindergarten through to Grade 6. The Japanese Division delivers the Japanese Curriculum from Grade 1 to Year 9. All SJIS students from Kindergarten through to Year 9 are enriched by a 45 minute language lesson, either Japanese or English.

シドニー日本人学校では、オーストラリアという大自然豊かな多文化国家で、国際感覚豊かな子供たちを育んでいます。

本校には、日本の文部科学省教育課程に準ずる「日本人学級」と、NSW州教育課程に準ずるオーストラリアのカリキュラムを行う「国際学級」とが併設されています。日本人学級は、小学一年生から中学三年生まで、国際学級は、小学幼稚部（YearK)から小学六年生（Year6)まで。

どちらの学級も毎日45分の語学授業（日本人学級‐英語／国際学級‐日本語）があり、バイリンガル・バイカルチュラル教育を実践しています。

Today, our school held its annual Book Week Dress Up Day, celebrating this year's theme, "A Symphony of Stories".

Students arrived dressed as their favorite book characters, demonstrating remarkable creativity. The teachers also enjoyed wearing their pyjamas.
Our Kindergarten to Year 2 students participated in the Book Characters parade.

In addition, we had the honor of welcoming acclaimed Australian author Nat Amoore to our campus yesterday. Ms. Amoore delivered an inspiring presentation on her passion for writing and storytelling, offering our students valuable insights into the creative process.

本日、本校にてブックウィークの「ドレスアップデー」を実施いたしました。

今年のテーマは “A Symphony of Stories（物語の中のシンフォニー）” です。児童・生徒たちは、それぞれのお気に入りの本に登場するキャラクターの衣装に身を包み、思い思いの姿で登校しました。キンダーガーテンからYear 2の児童による華やかなキャラクターパレードも行われました。また、先生方もドレスアップを一緒に楽しみました。

昨日には、オーストラリアの人気児童文学作家である ナット・アムーア（Nat Amoore）氏 をお迎えし、特別講演を開催いたしました。執筆に対する情熱や物語創出の魅力について直接お話しいただき、大変貴重な学びの機会となりました。

We had an amazing science show today!
All students had so much fun learning about forces, electricity, light, sound, energy, and the properties of matter.
They discovered the science behind everyday occurrences and got to see just how close science is to our daily lives!
Thank you Fizzics Education for visiting SJIS.

今日は楽しみにしていたサイエンスショーがありました。
力と運動、電気、光、音、エネルギー、そして物質の性質まで子どもたちは体験を通して、楽しく科学の世界に引き込まれていました。
素晴らしい実験の数々を目にし、生徒たちは大興奮で、ショーを楽しみました。
科学がぐっと身近に、そしてもっと大好きになる最高の1日になりました。

Last week, 22 talented SJIS athletes competed at the IPSHA Athletics Carnival among 1,500+ competitors from 50+ schools!
Our students showed incredible sportsmanship, with almost everyone smashing their school trial personal bests.

Huge congratulations to Ryan(Y5), who finished 5th overall in the 11yo Boys Long Jump and qualified for the CIS Athletics Carnival!

A big thank you to all the parents who came to support.
We can't wait for next year!

先週、SJISの代表選手22名がIPSHA陸上競技大会に出場しました！
50校以上、1,500名を超える選手が集う中、素晴らしいスポーツマンシップを発揮し、ほぼ全員が校内選考の自己ベストを更新する健闘を見せました。

5年生のRyan君が 男子11歳部門・走幅跳で総合5位 に輝き、見事CIS大会への進出を決めました！おめでとうございます！

Our school held a Peace Education Assembly this week.
Year6 students from both divisions gave a presentation on the importance of peace and what we can do to contribute.
All the students took time to reflect deeply on life and peace, feeling deeply grateful for the everyday peace we often take for granted.

今週、学校で平和集会がありました。
6年生によるプレゼンテーションがあり、平和の大切さや自分たちにできることについて、発表しました。
全校生徒が真剣に命や平和に向き合い、日常の当たり前にある平和に感謝しました。

Today, Theatre BANANA Theatre Banana 劇団バナナ New York visited our school!

We enjoyed their interactive, bilingual play performed in English and Japanese. Even with characters speaking different languages—like Alice in Japanese and the Rabbit in English—the students could miraculously follow the whole story! It was a magical day of fun and natural language learning.

本日は「劇団バナナ」の皆さんが来校してくれました。

生徒たちは日英バイリンガルの参加型演劇を鑑賞しました。
「アリスは日本語、ウサギは英語」のように会話が交差しても、不思議とストーリーがすっと理解できる魔法のような演劇に子どもたちも夢中！楽しく多言語の世界に触れられた特別な一日になりました。

Our students put on an incredible show, giving their absolute best in every event.
It was truly an unforgettable day, filled with smiles and amazing energy from start to finish!

A heartfelt thank you to all the parents and carers for your wonderful support and warm cheers, and to our teachers for all their hard work and preparation!

本日は最高のお天気に恵まれ、年に一度のスポーツデーを開催しました！

The new term has officially started! Welcome back, students!

We have so many exciting school events lined up for this term.
Right around the corner next week is Sports Day Carnival, an event everyone has been looking forward to! The students are already practicing hard and bringing so much energy to the field.

During the final week of last term, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming a very special guest to our campus, Dr. Kate Kitagawa .kitagawa
As a renowned space education specialist, she kindly dropped by to visit us during her trip to Sydney.

Dr. Kitagawa hosted a series of inspiring and fun sessions for our students, from Year 1 to High School students. She covered fascinating topics like "What is space really like?", "What kinds of careers are out there in the space industry?", and "How do rockets actually launch?"

Our students were completely spellbound, they discovered the wonders of the universe.

A huge thank you to Dr. Kitagawa for sparking so much curiosity and giving our students such an unforgettable experience.

先学期の最終週、本校に特別なゲストが来てくださいました。宇宙教育のスペシャリスト、北川ケイト博士です。シドニー訪問の貴重なタイミングで、本校にお立ち寄りくださいました。

1年生から中学部の生徒たちに向けて、「宇宙ってどんなところ？」「宇宙に関わる仕事には何がある？」「ロケットはどうやって飛ぶの？」など、ワクワクするお話をたくさん届けてくださった北川博士。
生徒たちは目を輝かせながら、博士のトークに夢中になっていました。

子どもたちの心に素敵なインスピレーションくださった北川博士、本当にありがとうございました。

Today markes the last day of this term.
It was another action-packed term, but we hope everyone had a lot of fun.

We had our end of term assembly today, and we look back on everything we accomplished this term. The International Division students also received their academic report.
For our kindergarten students, this is their very first academic report.

School holidays start tomorrow!
We hope you all have a safe, fun, and wonderful holiday.
We look forward to seeing you all refreshed and full of energy next term!

今学期も盛りだくさんな内容でしたが、みなさん、楽しみましたか？
今日は終業式があり、全員で今学期を振り返りました。そして、国際学級の生徒たちは成績表を受け取りました。
