Congratulations to our Year 11 cohort who all got behind their fundraising campaign for the Children’s Cancer Institute, raising more than double their original $1,500 target! Year 11 have come a long way in their journey of growing in compassion in recent years. We could not be more proud of them.

The celebrations continued at lunchtime on Thursday. Students enjoyed creative games and party food – a fantastic way for the year group to come together, have some fun and celebrate their achievement before heading into their final Year 11 exams. What a wonderful example of generosity, community and looking beyond themselves to make a difference. Well done, Year 11!

What a wonderful way to wrap up Book Week 2026! Our Primary community came together for the culmination of our term-long family reading challenge, celebrating E.B. White’s much-loved Charlotte’s Web. Families gathered for a picnic and an afternoon of book-themed fun, including a playdough modelling competition, family-vs-family trivia, student interviews and a wonderful display of creative dioramas. With teachers dressed for the farm theme and a special visit from a petting zoo, it was the perfect way to finish the week!

It has been a fun-filled week celebrating the joy of stories, with author visits, library activities, lunchtime trivia and craft, book competitions, our annual Book Character Parade and plenty of opportunities for students to share their love of reading and writing.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Book Week 2026 such a memorable celebration of books, imagination and the joy of reading at NBCS!

🏆🎮 Champions! NBCS has taken out the CSSA Esports Rocket League Tournament, with our two teams finishing first and fourth against 50 other school teams.

Both NBCS teams made an impressive run through the knockout stages. An exciting semi-final showdown between the two NBCS teams drew a crowd at lunchtime and NBCS 2 went on to play in the third-place match but were defeated.

In the grand final, NBCS 1 faced the school that defeated them last year. After an intense best-of-five series that went all the way to the fifth game, NBCS 1 emerged victorious to claim the championship!

Congratulations to Levi, Harrison and Michael on the win, and to Joel, Dante, Josh and Angus on an outstanding 4th-place finish.

Last week, 41 NBCS dancers took to the stage at Moore Park for The Ultimate Dance Competition (TUDC), coming away with outstanding podium placings in every performance. Here are just a couple of snippets from their dances.
Competing against 12 schools, the high standard from our dancers was truly remarkable. For many, this is their first dance season, yet they have embraced every challenge and continued to grow with each competition.

Each troupe has placed in every routine they have entered across all three competitions so far this year, which is a wonderful reflection of their commitment and hard work.

Congratulations to all the dancers on these outstanding results:
🥇 1st place in Junior Lyrical, Junior Jazz, Open Jazz and Open Hip Hop
🥈 2nd place in Junior Jazz (we had two teams competing against each other in this section, taking out 1st and 2nd place)
🥉 3rd place in Open Lyrical.

Today’s drizzly conditions didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of our Year 7 and Year 12 students as they came together to raise funds for the Cancer Council.

The day began with paired Year 7 and Year 12 Mentor Groups sharing a Biggest Morning Tea together – a wonderful opportunity for our youngest and oldest Secondary students to strengthen the connections they’ve built throughout the year.

Then came the Colour Run! Despite the rain, students embraced the challenge, getting colourful and having plenty of fun.🌈🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ The fundraising continued at lunchtime, with hundreds of sausages and drinks sold to Secondary students, with all proceeds donated to the Cancer Council. 🌭

It was a wonderful reminder that service is about coming together and making a positive difference in the lives of others. A huge thank you to our students, staff and families for getting behind this meaningful initiative!

Students in our Duke of Edinburgh Award program have been working hard to complete the requirements of their awards and we are excited to announce that three students have successfully completed their Silver and Gold Awards. They were presented with their certificates at last week’s assembly.
