ATTENTION FAMILIES
We invite all parents and carers to attend our upcoming AGM on Wednesday, 6 May 2026 @ 5.15pm.
Our preschool committee plays an important role in supporting the service, making decisions, and helping shape the experience for our children and families.
If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, having a say, or simply learning more about how things run behind the scenes, this is a great place to start. New faces and fresh ideas are always welcome, and no prior experience is needed.
Our preschool relies on the support of a parent committee to operate, so having families of enrolled students step forward is essential to ensure we can continue providing this service for our children and community.
Come along, have a listen, and see if it might be something for you.

What's been happening in Term 1...

So far this year we have spent most of our time in play, getting to know each other, developing new foundations, routines and tweaking our days to suit the individual needs of our children and their families.
Our whole focus compliments the EYLF and our weekly curriculum plan expands and extends on the children’s interests. Our new team is big on communication, collaboration, critical self-reflection and professional development.
We would love to hear any suggestions you have to improve our Preschool community and would be very excited to have any volunteers join us. Everyone is welcome, male or female, old or young to come along and share any special skills you may have, you can read a story, teach us about your culture or simply come in to play.

Kevin the ‘Swaggie Man’ came to play with us, he is a modern day Swaggie Man who has been making his way throughout Australia for 30 years and coming to Tenterfield Preschool for the past 5 years. This year, The Swaggie Man graced us with his presence for half an hour each day during week 4.

We had a great bunch of children thoroughly engaged in a program of dancing, singing and playing musical instruments to all kinds of music. The Swaggie Man sings about shearers, drovers, convicts and ship crews and soaks up the spirit of the Swaggie Man heritage.
When he was here all that could be heard was song and laughter with many children showing great musical talent. Our team learnt a lot of valuable skills which will filter on into our daily practices.

Thankyou to Mr and Mrs Swaggie Man, you are a sensational, inspirational duo!

Jules Hennessy...
Jules is here every day and has been with Tenterfield Preschool for a few years now and has pretty much been exposed to all roles at some point. Starting out as Educational Assistant, stepping up into Educational Leader for some time and now the Admin/Assistant Director and Bus Driver. Over the years, Jules, who has a passion for sustainability, has instigated a lot of changes on the environmental front of the Preschool which have headed changes in daily operations and our carbon footprint.

Candice Potter...
Candice is here full time and holds a Diploma in Children’s services with over 10 years industry experience.
Candice’s passions are learning about different cultures and is leading our Ella program this year which is an interactive online Japanese language program. Candice is also interested in nature, music and reading books which she filters into her learning sessions.

Karyn Giammichele...
Karyn has been here for a long time and works Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s. With years of experience within the Early education industry, around 30years, (trying not to show my age), with an Associate Diploma in Childcare and a Bachelor in Teaching Early Childhood.
Living in Tenterfield on a property allows her to share with the children an understanding and respect for our natural environment and the connectiveness between people, animals and all living things. With access to a wide range of natural materials and stories about animals, she loves sharing and engaging with the children about their experiences as well.
Also, you might hear her telling stories using different medias like puppets, painting, drawing, or dress up, making them up with the children as we go along.

Megan Donges...
Meg is our happy helper and most playful adult and is with us Monday’s and Thursday’s. She loves playing with the children and can often get stuck at the swing pushing the children for great lengths of time.
Meg loves doing craft and puzzles the most with the children and is pretty much part of the furniture having been here the longest. Meg will be here for a long time and can’t wait to make friends with all children.

Debbie Hovey...
Debbie been with the Preschool for over 11years and has a Certificate III in Children’s Services.
She is the lady in the office who has sent accounts and chased you for money, supplied hats and shirts for your children, ordered supplies for the Educators and children as well as spending time on the floor during staff lunch breaks. This is Debbie’s last term with the Preschool as she is moving to Toowoomba to be closer to family.

The last day of Preschool for 2021 has drawn to a close. And while it wasn't exactly the year we had planned, we also achieved more than we could have ever imagined.
Our children have proven themselves to be kind, capable, dedicated and resilient. We've tackled challenges, developed lifelong friendships, explored our interests, and even managed to squeeze an epic end of year concert in for our families.
We would like to say a huge thank you to each of our families. It is with your trust and support that we are able to achieve all of this greatness, and more!
If you are leaving our Preschool family, we wish you the best of luck. And if you're returning to Preschool in 2022, we can't wait to see what else you have to show us.
We hope that you all have a safe and happy holiday spent with loved ones.
