Today is the 7th anniversary of Cameron’s passing.

We recently shared an experience with a young man from our community that Cameron visited in hospital 8 years ago. Cameron had sat by their bedside, brightening their day with just his company and presence. Our memory of that visit, fuzzy and faded, was not one of significance. One day in thousands of Cameron being Cameron. To the young person, that visit is a core memory, a connection with Cameron that he carries with him all these years later, a continuing bond in a lifelong relationship. It seems inconceivable that only one year later, we were sitting beside Cameron, as his time was drawing near. Our recent experience with the same young man brought those fuzzy memories back to life, and strengthened our own continuing bonds with Cameron, and with each other. While the years he has been gone keep ticking over, we continue to discover there are so many ways that we haven't lost him at all.

Sempai Em and Sempai T, two of our Paragon teachers, will be running women's self-defence classes on Tuesday 10th or Tuesday 17th, in collaboration with Mums of the Hills.

These workshops are open to all women of all experiences - you do not have to be a student or have any martial arts background. In our kind and supportive space, you will learn a variety of self-defence skills that are practical and adapted to the abilities of each participant.

Today would have been Sensei Cameron’s 48th birthday. As we celebrate our memories of him, we have been reflecting on how proximity impacts our perception of the way he lived and the time we spent with him. As time marches on, we sometimes catch ourselves in wonder at how being close to Sensei Cameron shifted our sense of what ordinary looked like. Working, playing, teaching and training with him recalibrated our internal benchmarks for standards and expectations of ourselves and others in work, play, and training… and life. At the time, we didn’t notice that it was particularly impressive. Now, we can see that it was extraordinary. And we can see that it continues to shape the way we live, play and teach.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Paragon's Halloween Party: Superheroes of the Sea!

Our incredible Halloween crew of parents, students and teachers worked their magic to transform the Supercentre into an underwater masterpiece full of colour, adventure and surprise. Watching our little (and big!) costumed superheroes walk through the doors with wide eyes and big smiles made the night truly special.

We’re so grateful to everyone who believes in the magic that we seek to create! And yes… the Halloween crew is already buzzing with ideas for 2026!

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating Paragon's 27th birthday last Friday! It was a wonderful birthday party full of fun games, lovely conversations with our families, and (of course) lots of cake! It has been a bit of a challenging year as we have navigated the restoration of our Supercentre, but as Sempai T said in her speech, home is wherever our superheroes are. We are extremely lucky to have such a wonderful community, and we can't wait to keep creating superheroes for many more years to come ❤️🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Congratulations to everyone who graduated to their next belt or sash at the end of Term 2! All of our students did amazing in their graduations but we would like to give a special shout-out to our Tiny Tumblers (3-5) and Ninja Kids (5-7), pictured in the photos. Throughout their graduations they demonstrated amazing focus and listening skills, all the way through to the end when they were waiting for their new sashes. Well done to our littlest superheroes - and to all our superheroes who have continued to level up both their karate and their Paragon values this term.

We hope all our mums had a fabulous Mothers Day! We celebrated with Mums and Kids class on Friday night, where our super mums joined their karate kids on the mats for some joyful games, karate, and gratitude. We are very grateful for all the super mums in our community ❤️
