🌧️ **WET WEATHER = WET PLAY!** 💦🌿

We’re hoping the rain holds off during playtime tomorrow — and if it does, our students will be **outside playing!**

We also know our learners love a good puddle and the oval is often *even more exciting* when it’s wet! 😄

So, when packing the school bag tomorrow, you might like to pop in:

🧦 **An extra pair (or two!) of socks**
👕 **A change of clothes**

Just in case outdoor play gets a little wetter and muddier than planned!

We love seeing our students enjoying the outdoors — **come rain or shine!** 🌦️🌿

Across all classrooms, students are taking part in regular Fluency Pairs—sometimes called Fluency Friends or Partner Reading.

Our staff have reviewed student reading data and are continuing to strengthen their teaching practices in this important area.

Fluency does not mean reading as fast as possible. It means reading accurately, smoothly and with expression, at a pace that allows the reader to focus less on working out each word and more on understanding what the text means.

By reading aloud with a partner, students build confidence, practise giving kind and helpful feedback, and develop the fluency they need to become strong, thoughtful readers.

Science is a specialist subject at BPS. Here are some conversation starters that you can use to talk your child about their learning. Use these on the drive home from school or save them for family sharing time at the dinner table. Science lessons are on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Dear Families,

As part of our International Day of Play celebrations, your child will be bringing home a Reflection Leaf. We would love for you to take a few minutes to sit with your child, chat about their experiences from the day, and complete the reflection together.

All the information you need to complete the leaf is attached to it.
Please keep an eye out for this in school bags. If you were unable to attend the day you can include quotes or comments that your child shared about the day with you.

We look forward to hearing from you.

📚➕ **Maths at the Dinner Table! (Brace Yourselves 😄)**

Tonight, we’re inviting a *classic family moment* back to life…
You know the one…
“Wait… THAT’S not how you do it!”
“Yes it is!”
“No, we didn’t learn it like that!” 😂
💬 **Here’s your challenge:**

Ask your child to show you **how they solved a maths problem today**. Let them be the teacher!

Then…
😏 You show them **how YOU would have solved it**
👉 It might look different
👉 It might sound different
👉 It might even start a *friendly debate* at the dinner table!

💡 That’s the magic of maths — there’s often more than one way to solve a problem.
💬 Try asking:
• “Why does your way work?”
• “Which way do you think is easier?”
• “Can we both be right?”

❤️ We love seeing students build confidence explaining their thinking — and hearing that maths conversations are happening at home (even the *dramatic* ones 😄).

Let us know… did a “maths debate” break out at your place tonight?
