💛 R U OK? Week is coming to BPIHS next week! 💛

While looking out for one another is important every day, R U OK? Week gives us an opportunity to shine an extra spotlight on connection, conversation and checking in with those around us.

There’ll be plenty happening across the week:

🪨 Tuesday – Student Life: R U OK? lesson, plus keep an eye out for our R U OK? rocks! Find others with rocks, start a conversation and you could win a prize.

🍫 Wellbeing Wednesday – KitKat Chats: Join us on the Admin Lawns for a lunchtime filled with KitKat chats, a photo booth, music, bubbles and picnic rugs.

💛 Thursday – Student Life: A special student-led R U OK? assembly, reminding us of the importance of looking out for our mates and starting meaningful conversations.

You don’t need to be an expert to check in with someone. A conversation, a question or simply taking the time to listen can make a difference.

🌱 **To conclude Science Week**, our Year 12 Science Innovation class proudly hosted a community tree-planting event, creating a lasting legacy for our school and local environment while celebrating a successful week of science. 🔬🌿
Bringing Science Week to life required dedicated teamwork, with students taking the lead in planning, organising and running activities throughout the week. Their efforts truly showcased their collaboration, commitment and hard work. 👏
Following a respectful Acknowledgement of Country, students, invited staff and special guests planted native trees behind the Story Pole exhibit, helping to establish new habitat for local wildlife and highlighting the importance of environmental stewardship. 🌳🦜
The centrepiece was a beautiful **Banksia tree** 🌿 — a fitting and lasting addition to our school grounds.
The event concluded with a shared afternoon tea, where scones and treats fuelled plenty of connection and conversation among students, staff and guests. ☕🍪
We are grateful to everyone who attended and supported this special occasion. It was a wonderful demonstration of the strength of our school community and the power of working together to make a positive impact. 🌱✨

Leadership Announcement | Principal Appointment

We are delighted to announce that Brent Bloffwitch has been appointed as Principal of Banksia Park International High School for the next 10 years.

After initially being appointed to the Principal role for 2026, Brent has now accepted the long-term position, providing continued leadership and stability for our school community.

Brent’s commitment, leadership and vision will support the continued growth of Banksia Park International High School and our learners, staff and wider community.

We look forward to the exciting years ahead as he continues to lead BPIHS into the future!

📚🎶 **BOOK WEEK 2026 – A SYMPHONY OF STORIES!** 🎶📚

What a fantastic Book Week celebration! Our staff and students got right into the spirit, with plenty of brilliant costumes and characters making their way around the school.

We had **Mary Poppins**, a member of **ABBA**, and even a very special appearance from the one and only **Bruce Bogspotter**! 😂📖

🏆 We also announced the winner of our **2026 Book Week Writing Competition**, inspired by the question:

**“If every song told a story, what story would it tell?”**

✍️ **Congratulations to Indigo, Year 9**, who took out this year’s writing competition!

👑 And a huge congratulations to **Cedric, Year 11**, who was crowned our **Best Dressed** for 2026!

A big thank you to all the students and staff who dressed up, joined in and helped make our Book Week celebration such a fun one. It was wonderful to see so much creativity, imagination and school spirit on display! 📚✨

To celebrate National Science Week 2026, themed “Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All,” our school enjoyed a vibrant array of science activities both in class and during lunchtime. The Year 12 Science Innovation class took the lead in organising a variety of engaging lunchtime events, including Science Jeopardy, movie sessions, seed bomb making, and an exciting scavenger hunt, with prizes on offer to encourage participation and learning. It was inspiring to see students from all year levels getting involved, sharing their curiosity and enthusiasm for science. The week concluded with a Banksia tree planting, uniting our school community in a celebration of science, curiosity, and our shared commitment to the environment (more to come on this event). Thank you to the students who participated, and staff who were able to assist.
