Everyone Connected: We were pleased to welcome back Aboriginal artist Dylan Sarra on the 6th August. Dylan worked with our year 3 students on the First Nations uses of rocks and minerals as resources. Our students got hands on with Dylan's different rock samples. Dylan also shared information about the petroglyph research he is doing as a part of his fellowship with the Queensland Museum.

Everyday Striving to Succeed: On Monday 17th August (Week 7) we celebrated the students who participated in the Biggest Wellie's Science Stars Science Contest and in the Endangered Species Art Contest to date. We were impressed by the interesting and creative projects our students presented. Well done to the students and families who put in the hard work to complete the projects.

Thank you to our amazing guest speaker Professor Kathy Townsend from the University of the Sunshine Coast shared her research on saving sea turtles from plastics in the ocean.

We would like to thank the fantastic volunteers who hosted tables at the science expo, the science and art contest judges, and the P&C for the fundraising support. Seeing the support of Science at Wellers Hill is an amazing vibe. Our students demonstrate learning everywhere and show how curious minds can create an amazing following of scientific investigations.

What's on in Week 8? After the amazing efforts last week for book week, we are looking forward to a slightly less jam-packed week. There are opportunities on Wednesday for students to purchase something at the Father's Day stall for the significant males in their lives. We have a Student Free Day on Friday 4th September where there will be no staff on site. Please book your child into SACCS for the day should you require care for the day. There is also a reminder that bookings for student progress meetings close on Friday 4th September. Have an amazing week.
