POSITION VACANT

Possums Playcentre is looking for a passionate early childhood educator/s to bring some possum magic to their centre. 2022 is an unprecedented year and we need to engage further support to help us ensure children enrolled have continuity and stability in their early childhood experience at Possums.

Who we are:
Possums is a community based non- profit organisation based in Taroona at the Taroona Community Hall.We are licensed by the Tasmanian Education Department and managed by a volunteer parent committee.Possums offers a quality and caring pre - kinder experience for 3 to 5 year olds.

Position Hours:
Possums is open 9 a.m. to 12 noon every Monday, Wednesday and Friday during school terms.
Our current critical need is on our Wednesday morning sessions, however we are considering expressions of interest on all three days.

Remuneration:
The Educator position is casual and the pay is per the Children's Services Award 2010 and the National Employment Standards.
Given our current transition period,the initial casual appointment would be for 6 months with a view to extend.

Qualifications required;
- Cert III in Children's Services
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education (preferred)
- Degree in Education Early Childhood
Applicants also need a current Working with Vulnerable People Registration, be fully vaccinated for COVID -19 and preferably have a current First Aid Certificate.

We are open to expressions of interest with or without previous work experience in early childhood.

Who are we looking for:
Possums is well known as a community focused and caring playcentre. Our brand is built on word of mouth and community trust, so those that would work for the centre would need to share similar philosophies of caring for and engaging in the community. We are one big family and our staff are regarded as the head of the family.

Possums Playcentre will not be operating on Monday October 18th due to the closure of the Taroona Community Hall during the 3 day Covid Lockdown. Sessions will begin on Wednesday October 20th if the Lockdown is lifted.
