A New Look, the Same Heart.

We're delighted to share that our website has had a thoughtful refresh - designed to feel more like us, and more like you.

Our digital space now better reflects our embodied one. Just as we support you in reconnecting with your body, breath, and inner rhythm, we wanted our online home to offer that same sense of clarity, flow, and ease.

You'll find a more intuitive layout, clearer pathways through our offerings, and gentle visuals that reflect the heart of our work: healing, presence, and deep listening.

We invite you to explore the new site, discover what's unfolding, and let us know how it lands for you.

Take a look around - we'd love your feedback.

With warmth and gratitude,
— The Ease and Motion team

New Blog post!!!
Alexander’s goal was to avoid misusing his body while reciting Shakespeare. He noticed that his head would habitually tilt back and down, shortening his torso and interfering with his larynx, breathing, and natural postural support. He realized he needed to stop trying to mechanically control his body and instead allow it to do what it naturally does when free from habit.

As the longest night approaches in the Southern Hemisphere, we gather in community to honour the turning point of the year — the slow, steady return of light.

Join us for an evening of integrative somatic practices, a gentle journey to reflect on the cycles passed, acknowledge the wisdom gained, and make space for the new self that wishes to emerge.

Let this solstice be a threshold — a time to rest, release, and reimagine.

The Autumn Equinox is a moment of balance, when day and night stand as equals, reminding us to seek harmony in our own lives. Through movement, stillness, and shared presence, we hope to create a space of grounding, connection, and renewal as we transition into the cooler months.

The interest in evolutionary study lies in noticing the connection between movement abilities at different stages of infant growth and the movement abilities of vertebrates in various evolutionary stages—without necessarily implying an exact correspondence between human developmental movements and evolutionary descent. (Simmons, 2015) Thanks to our evolution as a vertebrate species, we have developed multiple locomotion and survival tools, such as bipedal walking, running, twisting, jumping, fine motor skills, and speech.

Arms like wings [Blog post]
A revelation for me during my years of Alexander Technique training was considering the shoulder blades and clavicles as part of the arms. If we map the structure of the arms, we see that they connect to the central part of the torso via the collarbones, making these the structural beginning of the arms.

Typically, we think of the arms as limbs hanging at our sides, enabling us to reach, grasp, and place objects. Structurally, they are part of the appendicular skeleton, which also includes the pelvis and legs. Our arms are a complex combination of bones and connective tissue, offering many possibilities for movement thanks to the variety of joints in each section. Within the arms, we find spirals, deviations, flexions, and extensions that support various actions and fine motor skills.

During early development, babies first use their mouths to explore reaching, grasping, and releasing—actions that later transfer to the hands. The hands will then explore in coordination with the feet and other surfaces, forming the foundation for locomotion. Over time, the baby will crawl, hop, walk, jump, and eventually talk. As they learn to stand, their arms provide safety by aiding in balance, offering support, and integrating the front and back of the body’s centre. The movement of the arms could easily resemble that of an amphibian transitioning from water to land, while the legs follow a primal pattern, cooperating with vertical movement.[Continues]

During the Alexander Yoga sessions, participants are invited to assess and choose their preferred level of intensity, whether opting for a gentler approach or seeking a more rigorous challenge. The focus remains on nurturing the design of the body rather than fixating on achieving a predetermined posture.

Often phrases like “take a deep breath in”, “flat back”, and “shoulders back and down” are common in the yoga practice. They have good intentions as they try to correct body alignment or function. Unfortunately, the lack of understanding of the meaning in relation to the design of the body and its use ends up creating more harm than good.

The language used in Alexander yoga sessions is carefully selected to prevent misuse facilitating efficiency in the movements or asanas explored.

Alexander Yoga helps you understand how to find ease in motion and avoid strain in your practice, so you can apply that learning to your daily activities.

Our hands play an important role in expressing ourselves and communicating with others. This complex structure we call hands is dynamic and flexible and can become the continuation of our thoughts, intentions, and feelings.
Becoming aware of the use of our hands creates a connection with the space we inhabit, the volume we occupy within it, and how we create congruency with verbal and nonverbal communication.

Moving the hands at a particular pace, direction, and intensity results in gestures that convey meaning in the exercise of coexisting with the environment. Each gesture carries information and purpose and is strategically used in daily life. However, most of the time, this is an unconscious process.

In Alexander Yoga, we practice a series of archetypal gestures present in human communication. Each of us tends to use some of them more than others. The practice of the whole range of these gestures invites us to somatically connect with non-habitual movement, which helps us radiate our thoughts, ideas, intentions, and feelings to the outside world.

AI vs Human Creativity: Which One Will Win?

While AI has come a long way in recent years, it still has several limitations that prevent it from fully replacing human creativity.

One major limitation is that AI can’t come up with completely new ideas or concepts on its own. Although AI is great at tasks that involve repetitive and predictable patterns, it struggles when faced with creative and unpredictable situations.
