NATIONAL WATTLE DAY 2026

We celebrated National Wattle Day on 1st September. We learnt that the Golden Wattle is Australia's national floral emblem and a symbol of unity. It is dressed in our national colours, green and gold.

The children created their own beautiful wattles by finger dotting the bright yellow blossoms.

🐊📚 BOOK WEEK SET UP - We're Going on a Croc Hunt 📚🐊

Celebrating Book Week with one of Australia's most loved and very famous children's books - "We're Going on a Croc 🐊 Hunt" by Laine Mitchell and Louis Shea. This is an exciting adventure story about a group of brave Australian animals going on a croc hunt. They travel through swishy swashy long grass, thick squelchy mud and deep sparkling water with fun, rhythmic sounds like Splash Splosh, Squelch Squerch, Swishy Swashy, Stumble Trip, Tiptoe Tiptoe and Ahhh Run!

For this set up I have used lots of natural and recycled materials like pebbles, shells, bottle lids, grass, bark and twigs to bring the story to life in a sustainable way.

This hands-on experience offers rich learning for children. They develop their language and literacy as they retell the story, learn new vocabulary and enjoy the rhythm and sounds. They explore sensory textures, practise matching animals to their picture cards, follow the crocodile footprint trail and build their knowledge about Australian animals and habitats. By using natural and recycled materials, children also learn about sustainability and caring for our environment.

We are celebrating Book Week with _Think About Big and Little_ by Henry Pluckrose!

We transformed the book into a hands-on sorting table with our "Big" and "Little" boxes. Children loved exploring, matching and sorting our big & little pairs - from koalas and teddies to chairs, cups, cars and more!

Today the children enjoyed a wonderful creative drawing experience using a variety of bright, different-coloured crayons.

They explored making their own marks, lines, circles and scribbles, expressing their ideas and imagination freely while discovering colour.

This open-ended experience supported their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and pencil grip, while also building confidence, self-expression, and pride in making independent creative choices.

It was beautiful to see their focus and joy as their artworks came to life!

Magic Milk Science Experiment

During Science Week, children enjoyed the "Magic Milk Science Experiment." They poured milk into a shallow bowl, added drops of colorful food coloring, and then used droppers to add a little dish soap to the milk. The children watched in amazement as the colors instantly swirled, danced, and mixed together to make beautiful patterns. Through this fun activity, children learned how soap breaks the surface tension of milk and makes the fat molecules move, which creates the magical color explosion. It was a simple and exciting way to explore science while practicing observation and fine motor skills.

🧲 Magic Magnet in Action! – Science Week
During Science Week, the children explored the fascinating world of magnetism through a fun, hands-on “Magnet and Magnetic Chips” activity.

Using colorful magnetic wands, the children picked up shiny magnetic discs from a tray and discovered how magnets can attract certain objects. They experimented with the magnets, observed what happened, and enjoyed seeing the discs “jump” onto the wands.

Through this engaging experience, the children developed their understanding of magnetism and attraction while also strengthening their fine motor skills. They explored colors, counting, hand-eye coordination, and observation skills as they played and investigated.

It was a fun and exciting way to learn about science through curiosity, exploration, and hands-on discovery! 🧲✨🔬

During Science Week, children did a "Tricolor Magic Flowers" activity to celebrate Independence Day. The educator prepared paper flowers, and the children colored the center of each flower with saffron, blue, and green markers to represent the colors of the Indian flag. After coloring, they used droppers to carefully add water to the center and watched with excitement as the color slowly spread out to the petals. This simple science activity helped children learn about capillary action and how water moves through paper. It also gave them a chance to understand the meaning of the colors in our national flag while enjoying a creative, hands-on experience.

Little Pieces, Big Pride

For Independence Day, the children made their own Tiranga with tiny bits of paper. With every little piece they stuck, they learned about our flag and felt proud to be part of India.

Through pasting, they learned patience and how to do work neatly and carefully. They also learned teamwork as they shared materials and helped each other. Most of all, they understood the value of working together to create something meaningful. This simple activity made them feel a sense of responsibility, creativity, and love for the country.

Independence Day 🇮🇳with Tricolor loose part craft

To mark Independence Day, children participated in a meaningful and creative activity that reflected their love for the nation. Under a large Indian National Flag, they created their own flags on activity sheets titled "India" by coloring the three bands and arranging saffron, white, and green building blocks, with blue blocks placed in the center to form the Ashoka Chakra. This hands-on activity not only helped children understand the significance of the Tricolor and its symbols, but also encouraged creativity, teamwork, and patriotism. The colorful display of little flags was a proud reminder of how young minds are learning to cherish and celebrate the spirit of freedom.
