๐๐ BOOK WEEK SET UP - We're Going on a Croc Hunt ๐๐
Celebrating Book Week with one of Australia's most loved and very famous children's books - "We're Going on a Croc ๐ Hunt" by Laine Mitchell and Louis Shea. This is an exciting adventure story about a group of brave Australian animals going on a croc hunt. They travel through swishy swashy long grass, thick squelchy mud and deep sparkling water with fun, rhythmic sounds like Splash Splosh, Squelch Squerch, Swishy Swashy, Stumble Trip, Tiptoe Tiptoe and Ahhh Run!
For this set up I have used lots of natural and recycled materials like pebbles, shells, bottle lids, grass, bark and twigs to bring the story to life in a sustainable way.
This hands-on experience offers rich learning for children. They develop their language and literacy as they retell the story, learn new vocabulary and enjoy the rhythm and sounds. They explore sensory textures, practise matching animals to their picture cards, follow the crocodile footprint trail and build their knowledge about Australian animals and habitats. By using natural and recycled materials, children also learn about sustainability and caring for our environment.
The children absolutely loved exploring it!
