Congratulations to Jarrod Lucas, who has been featured in the MACS 2025 Annual Report.

Jarrod was nominated by his students for the Herald Sun’s Australia’s Best Teachers 2025 and continues his story in this article, reflecting on the importance of building strong connections with students to create safe, positive learning environments - “When students feel safe, they engage differently.”

Thomas Carr College is proud to have dedicated and compassionate educators like Jarrod shaping the learning experience for our students.

Today is National Sorry Day, a time for all Australians to remember and acknowledge the Stolen Generations - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were taken away from their families, communities, and Country - and the enduring, intergenerational impacts that continue today.

This year’s national theme, From Sorry to Action, calls for leadership, accountability, and urgency to create real, measurable change within survivors’ lifetimes. It reminds us to meet the ongoing needs of Stolen Generations survivors and their families with compassion and commitment.

Today invites us to learn from the past, walk together toward reconciliation. We pray for healing, courage, and unity.

Today’s Pentecost liturgy, led by our Mission Representatives, was a timely reminder of the purpose and joy of the Pentecost Term. A celebration that strengthened our sense of faith, community, and shared mission.

On Tuesday, it was Galway's turn for a House celebration! All students and staff in Galway House gathered to celebrate House identity and belonging, centring around their House motto of 'deeds not words.'

At lunchtime, students ran an amazing race fundraiser in support of Edmund Rice Foundation, an organisation that empowers marginalised communities through education, training, and human rights advocacy.

We are excited to share that Busola B (Year 12) has been named Wyndham's Young Person of the Month for May 2026!

Busola is one of our Community Captains, who has helped to promote cultural inclusion and diversity at Thomas Carr through events, fundraisers and lunchtime clubs.

"I [Busola] am most passionate about creating inclusive environments where everyone feels they belong. Growing up as a Nigerian in Australia, my experiences have shaped my commitment to equality, diversity and representation. I am especially passionate about gender equality, youth empowerment and social justice, and I strive to turn that passion into action through leadership and community initiatives."

On Friday we celebrated Thomas Carr Day, an important day in the College calendar to reflect on the legacy of Archbishop Thomas Carr and celebrate our rich history as a vibrant Catholic community.

The day began with a whole College Mass, a purposeful way for staff and students to come together. Followed by a carnival full of exciting rides and activities, from dodgem cars to fundraising initiatives, there was something for every student.

We concluded the day with Thomas Carr's Got Talent! An annual talent show where students can share their creativity and support one another to shine.
