At Thomas Carr College, we recognise the importance of physical activity, wellbeing and connection in helping students thrive.

Yesterday, students celebrated Health and PE Day with a range of fun activities, from trivia challenges to football and soccer games. It was a fantastic opportunity to get active, build relationships and enjoy some friendly competition.

On Monday, our student leaders attended the Malaya and Borneo Veterans Day at the Shrine of Remembrance. Students marched alongside veterans, carrying the Malaya and Borneo banner, gathering to honour and remember those who served.

We asked Busola (Year 12), as International & Community Leader, to reflect on her experience:
"Through heartfelt speeches, the laying of wreaths, and performances from our choir and band, we reflected on the enduring importance of remembrance. We are grateful for the meaningful connection fostered between Thomas Carr College and the Malaya and Borneo veterans, and for the opportunity to learn from and honour their stories."

This week, our community came together to celebrate Book Week and this year's theme, Symphony of Stories.

Students and staff embraced the occasion by dressing as their favourite book characters and taking part in our annual Book Week parade, bringing stories to life across the College.

It was wonderful to see so much creativity, enthusiasm and imagination on display. Just like a symphony, many different stories, perspectives and experiences can come together to create something meaningful.

Students will also receive an email with their unique PIN and will have designated time to complete the survey during morning PaLM.

We are proud to introduce Yani Ngarrgu, Journey of Knowledge, a striking new artwork in the Ngangga Centre by acclaimed Naarm-based multidisciplinary Aboriginal artist Simone Thomson.

Through a series of interconnected gathering places and pathways, the painting celebrates community, connection, and the sharing of knowledge. Each gathering circle represents the meeting places of the Thomas Carr College community, reflecting our commitment to learning together, listening deeply, and building meaningful relationships.

Watch the video to learn more about the significance of Yani Ngarrgu and its place within the Ngangga Centre. Hear from Mr Bernardo and Ms Mondares as they reflect on the inspiration behind the artwork and its powerful connection to culture, community, and learning.

Want to try something new at recess or lunch?

Every Tuesday at recess, chapel prayer group is run. Students and staff can drop in for a short time of prayer together - a gentle way to pause and connect with a few minutes of calm and connection.

Every Thursday at lunchtime, Bible study group is run in the chapel by one of our Liturgy Captains, Celine B (Year 12). It is a great way to meet new people and delve deeper into what the Bible is truly saying.

Check out SIMON messages for more information on all recess and lunchtime activities!

Yesterday we gathered as a College, along with St Francis of Assisi PS Tarneit, to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption, a Holy Day of Obligation in the Catholic Church.

Coming together as a community allowed students and staff to reflect on the belief that God has great plans for each of us, as he did for Mary.

Our VCE offshore mentors spent the Term 2 break in Guiyang, China, delivering professional learning workshops at the annual VCE Transnational Conference.

The conference brings together educators from our partner schools to share best practice, strengthen international partnerships and enhance VCE teaching and learning. It also provides a valuable opportunity for our mentors to reflect on their own practice and bring fresh ideas back to Thomas Carr College.
