Our 2026 Meet the Professionals evening brought together Year 12 students and industry professionals from a wide range of fields, offering valuable insight into university pathways, career journeys, leadership, and life beyond school, including perspectives on the cultural transition from school into the professional world.
Held annually, this event is open to all Year 12 students and continues to provide meaningful opportunities to connect with professionals, explore future pathways, and engage in one-on-one mentoring.
The evening commenced with a keynote address from Brice Hamack, Principal Solicitor at the ACT Government Solicitor in Canberra, who brings extensive experience across Australian and United States law, including work in civil rights, Islamic advocacy, and community legal practice.
This was followed by a panel discussion featuring Dr Amireh Fakhouri, a local General Practitioner with expertise in women’s health, paediatrics, and community healthcare; Mohamed Jamal Eddine, a director specialising in strategy and digital transformation; and Taoufiq Olomowewe, a professional footballer and content creator.
The evening concluded with the Athan and a Hadith reflection delivered by Bakr Alsoudi, a futsal coach and pharmacist with experience in sports coaching and player development in New Zealand.
Students were given the opportunity to ask questions, engage in meaningful discussion, and build confidence in exploring their future pathways. We extend our sincere thanks to the 36 professionals who generously gave their time to attend, connect, and contribute to this initiative.

To conclude Hajj Week across both Primary and Secondary, students were treated to a powerful live performance by our Secondary students, bringing to life the story of the Year of the Elephant.
Set in the year of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the story follows the ruler Abraha as he marched towards Makkah with a large army, including elephants, intending to destroy the Kaaba.
As the army advanced, Allah (SWT) protected His sacred house in a miraculous way by sending flocks of birds carrying small stones of baked clay, which destroyed the army. This event is recorded in Surah Al-Fil in the Holy Qur’an.
The performance gave students across both Primary and Secondary a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the strength of faith, the protection of Allah (SWT), and the enduring lessons from this significant moment in Islamic history.

Twelve camels arrived on ICOM grounds during Hajj Week, giving ICOM students a memorable and hands-on experience connected to the Hajj journey.
Students from Years 2–12 enjoyed camel rides in tandem, while Foundation and Year 1 students met the camels and took class photos together.
Camels hold deep significance in Hajj, representing endurance and the historic journeys of pilgrims travelling to Makkah. Experiences like these help bring Islamic learning to life in a meaningful and engaging way for students.

As part of Hajj Week at ICOM, students embarked on an interactive Hajj journey, starting at the Miqat then visiting ICOM's marvellous Hajj replicas such as Mina, Arafah Plains and Jamarat while learning about the significance and values of Hajj.
And of course, no pilgrimage journey would be complete without making their way around the Kaaba, performing Tawaf as they went then walking between Marwa and Safa.
Through this experience, students developed a deeper understanding of the rituals of Hajj while strengthening their connection to Islamic history, faith, and the values of patience, gratitude, and obedience to Allah (SWT).

Recently, our Primary students celebrated ICOM Kindness Day, a beautiful reminder of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): “The most beloved of people to Allah (SWT) are those who are most beneficial to people.”
With a focus on compassion, gratitude, and care, our students had the option to wear pastel tones on the day as part of the celebrations.
Throughout the day, students participated in a range of kindness-themed activities including classroom lessons, team-building lunchtime activities, a whole-school outdoor lunch, and an SRC fundraiser, all of which provided meaningful opportunities to embody the Sunnah of spreading goodness within our community.
During the fundraiser, the entire Primary cohort gathered in the courtyard to enjoy a special live mime performance, with students taking on the role of mimes to share uplifting messages around kindness and empathy, reflecting the Quranic call to “enjoin what is good.”
Alhamdulillah, it was truly heartwarming to see students demonstrating kindness in both small and meaningful ways, strengthening the bonds of brotherhood, sisterhood, and community across our College, just as Allah (SWT) reminds us: “And do good; indeed Allah (SWT) loves the doers of good.” (Quran 2:195).
May Allah (SWT) bless our students, families, and staff, and make our College a place where kindness and mercy always flourish.

As part of Secondary Hajj Week, students took part in a Masbaha Workshop where they created and personalised their own 33-bead or 99-bead masbaha using glass and wooden beads.
Throughout the workshop, students carefully assembled their pieces while learning about the importance of dhikr and the role a masbaha can play in the remembrance of Allah (SWT).

As part of Secondary Hajj Week, students took part in a special Islamic Calligraphy Workshop led by our very own Sheikh Saied Altabaa and Dr Mohammad Shaker, who personally hand wrote each calligraphy piece for students in a traditional Islamic style throughout the activity.
Students also had the opportunity to learn and practise Islamic calligraphy techniques themselves, gaining an appreciation for the skill, patience, and artistic tradition behind the craft.
Alongside this, students could have their own name, or the name of a loved one, beautifully written in Islamic calligraphy, while also choosing their preferred paper style and marker colour to personalise their artwork.
Many students chose to have their mothers’ names written so they could gift the artwork to them when they arrived home, which became one of the more heartfelt outcomes of the workshop.
The workshop gave students a meaningful way to connect creativity with Islamic tradition while exploring an artform that has held an important place throughout Islamic history for centuries.
