Friday Clubs in Focus – Lego Club
🟥🟨🟩🟦

A new highlight of Friday afternoons in Primary is our Clubs program, where students come together around shared interests, build new friendships and grow a sense of community beyond their class groups.

Lego Club has been a favourite, with students collaborating to create imaginative builds, tackle challenges and bring their ideas to life.

These opportunities help our Primary students build connection, confidence and community.

Celebrating 50 Years of Deadly ⚫🟡🔴

Our College community came together to celebrate 50 Years of Deadly as part of NAIDOC Week.

Our assembly featured cultural dances performed by Primary and Secondary Koori students, brought together and coordinated by the wonderful Aunty Leah. We were also privileged to hear from Pastor Clint Walker, who shared an encouraging message about culture, community and faith.

We are grateful for the rich culture, history and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and for the opportunity to learn, celebrate and walk together in respect, understanding and reconciliation.

Our very own Mrs Tindall has been awarded the NSW Premier’s Teaching Scholarship! 🎓

Mrs Tindall has been recognised for her expertise, innovation, and commitment to improving outcomes for students.

Through the Premier’s STEM and Technology Scholarship, she will visit the United States, including MIT, and Singapore to investigate how artificial intelligence can improve access to learning, support diverse needs, and strengthen creativity, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.

Her research will also explore how schools can use AI responsibly to enhance student learning without replacing students’ own thinking and skill development. Supported by the University of New England, Mrs Tindall will use her findings to develop a practical framework to help primary teachers use AI to improve access to learning and amplify student outcomes, while ensuring it strengthens, rather than replaces, students’ thinking.

Year 10 students enjoyed a fantastic day at CareerQuip at TAFE Taree, exploring future career and study pathways. With more than 60 exhibitors from universities, training providers, industry groups and local employers, there was plenty to discover and learn.

🏎️IGNITE MENTORING SESSION WITH DARREN KING 🏎️

Our Ignite teams were privileged to have a mentoring session with local business owner, Darren King from FastCharge Australia. Darren shared his journey of leaving school, working and eventually starting his own business.

He encouraged teams to think carefully about how they measure success and to celebrate the little wins along the way, as well as giving students tips on how to connect with potential sponsors.

Darren also talked about international trade shows his business attends and how the same principles of engagement apply to teams and their trade displays. It was fantastic for students to spend time with Darren and to learn from his wealth of experience. FastCharge is the major sponsor of the Ignite Competition and we are very grateful for Darren’s continued support of the program. Thanks, Darren!

Fifteen of our top mathematicians, along with others from the Manning Valley, spent some time with Aussie TV and radio star Adam Spencer at Taree Universities Campus last week.

They learned some amazing facts about megaprimes, other very large numbers and infinity !♾️

Students delved into some problem solving, and Adam was very impressed that four students solved the hardest problem - a feat unmatched at previous workshops. Congratulations to our very own Samuel (Year 12) for being one of these top problem solvers! 💪

Many thanks to Taree Universities Campus for bringing us this opportunity.
