👨👩👧👦 A New Approach to Sharing Photos Online 👨👩👧👦
Over the coming months, MidCoast Christian College will change how we use identifiable student and staff photos on social media and other public digital platforms. We will no longer use identifiable student and staff faces in content shared on our socials.
As a Christian school, we believe every child is made in the image of God and is precious to Him. We see it as our responsibility to protect their privacy, safety, and dignity. Because of this, we take online safety seriously 🔒.
In our changing digital world, developments in artificial intelligence, image manipulation technologies, cybersecurity risks and the public nature of social media platforms mean that once an image is shared online, there is limited control over how it may be viewed, shared or repurposed.
While this may be a newer approach for schools, we're choosing to be proactive rather than reactive. By taking these steps now, we're aiming to lead the way in creating a safer, more privacy-conscious digital environment for our students and families.
What does this mean?
We won't stop sharing the wonderful things happening at MCCC. We'll continue to celebrate College life, but we'll do so in ways that prioritises the online safety of our students and staff. Additonally, MCCC parents will soon be able to view College stories and photos on our secure communication channels.
We recognise that this change may require an adjustment in expectations. For many years, our social media channels have provided families with photo galleries and regular glimpses into daily College activities. We ask for your understanding and patience as we implement this new approach. Like any significant change, it will take time to refine, and we appreciate your grace as we learn and adapt along the way.
