Choosing the right support matters.
When you decide to take your child to a tutor, you need to choose someone you trust.
As a mum of 4 grown sons and grandma of 5, I understand the uniqueness of each child and that each child learns differently. I have many years of experience in primary education, specifically literacy support and learning difficulties.
When you bring your child to me they will be taught with purpose, supported with patience and challenged at the right level to help them grow. •
You can feel confident knowing that your child is being guided by someone who understands how children learn, where the gaps are, and how to build both skills and confidence.

Teaching will really amaze you because it breaks the belief that you only live for yourself. Teaching will introduce you to different souls, thousands of them. You’ll meet people in different forms, with different stories, perspectives, and ways of seeing the world. And that experience is truly one of a kind. Not everyone gets to experience something like this.

And maybe that’s one of the most beautiful things about being a teacher. You start thinking that you are simply here to teach, but along the way, you realize that you are also here to be part of someone’s story. You become a small part of so many lives, and somehow, they become a part of yours too. That is something you can never put a price on.

A new brain study just gave teachers some solid science to back up what they already suspected.

Researchers fitted 36 students with hairnets holding 256 sensors, then asked them to write words by hand and type the same words on a screen. The brain scans told a clear story. Writing by hand lit up connections across wide areas of the brain, specifically in the frequency bands linked to memory. Typing on a screen produced almost no activity in those same regions.

The researchers did not mince words in their conclusion. Children need to practice handwriting in school from an early age, because those physical strokes are building the brain connections that support learning.

The finding is not a case against technology, though. The same researchers made a point of saying schools need to keep up with screens as well. The message is that handwriting and digital tools belong side by side in the classroom, not in competition with each other.

For teachers who have long felt that putting a pen in a child's hand matters, there is now a brain scan to prove it.
