๐ฉบ Thinking about a future career in rural medicine?
The University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health and the North West NSW Regional Training Hub are piloting a new Mentoring into Medicine Program for current Year 11 students in our local area.
Running from September 2026 to July 2027, the program provides one-on-one mentoring, UCAT preparation support, hands-on clinical skills sessions, and valuable insights into studying and practicing medicine.

We are excited to shine the spotlight on our newest Walaaybaa Junior Ranger School Based Trainees!
All three students have been involved in our Junior Ranger Program and have consistently demonstrated dedication, commitment, and a strong passion for learning and caring for Country. Their hard work has paid off, with each student successfully securing a School Based Traineeship with the Walaaybaa Junior Ranger Program.
Over the next year, they will spend one day each week working alongside Richard, gaining hands-on experience through a range of exciting and meaningful projects while completing their Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management through TAFE NSW โ all while continuing their school studies.
This is a fantastic opportunity for these young people to build practical skills, connect with culture and Country, and explore future career pathways in environmental management and conservation.
