Every week is a great week of Science at Oxley, but this week was extra special as we celebrated National Science Week !

We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful team of experienced and expert Science teachers, with many bringing knowledge and experience from research and industry. They understand the power of STEM beyond the classroom and the real-world applications that can inspire our students and open their eyes to what is possible.

Although they might occasionally debate which branch of Science is the best, we know that as a team they work together to create wonderful opportunities for our students — making many lessons feel like a real-life version of The Magic School Bus!

This year’s theme, Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All, feels particularly fitting. Every day, our teachers are planting seeds of curiosity, encouraging students to ask questions, explore the world around them and discover where their own interests might take them.

A huge thank you to our Science teachers for the passion, expertise and extra effort they bring to our students. They are helping nurture curious minds and showing our students the possibilities that open up when they approach the world with an enquiring mind.

Happy Science Week to our wonderful Science faculty!

Sometimes it’s not about being on the court — it’s about being part of the team.

Our 9/10 Boys bringing the energy, chanting OXLEY and cheering on the girls from the sidelines this week at the Netball NSW Schools Cup. This is what school spirit is all about — supporting each other, celebrating each other and making sure everyone feels part of the team.

Bringing the vibes into the weekend!

Oxley High School Alumni – Where Are They Now?

This week we’re catching up with Oxley High School alumnus Dave May, who has gone on to an incredible career as a cinematographer and director.

Dave’s work has taken him around the world and includes the hugely successful Love on the Spectrum, for which he received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Cinematography for Season 3.

And now, we have even more exciting news — Dave has been selected for another Emmy nomination!

From the classrooms of Oxley to the international screen, this is an incredible achievement and one we’re so proud to celebrate.

What a legend!

We love seeing where our alumni go after Oxley and celebrating the incredible things they continue to achieve.

Congratulations, Dave — we’re cheering you on from Oxley!

What an amazing day of Oxley spirit at Tamworth Netball Courts for the Netball NSW Schools Cup!

Our 9/10 Girls faced tough competition but kept their heads high, showing fantastic sportsmanship and supporting their fellow teams off the court. A true example of teamwork and positivity, despite the challenging results.

Huge congratulations to our 7/8 Girls for finishing first in their pool and booking their place in the Regional Champions Round – what a brilliant achievement.

The 9/10 Boys were unstoppable, full of energy from the first whistle, and finished with an impressive 4 wins, also advancing to the Regional Champions Round.

A massive thank you to umpires Morgan Lockyer (Year 11), Sophie Wykes (Year 9), and Mia Goodfellow (McCarthy), as well as coaches Ms Claudia Jenkins and Ms Michaella Toomey for their dedication and support both on the day and with the early 7:30am sessions leading up to the tournament.

We can’t wait to see more Oxley spirit as our 7/8 Girls and 9/10 Boys shine in the Regional Champions Round this September. Let’s go Oxley!

Last week, three of our students took part in the Rural Allied Health Work Experience Program, gaining valuable hands-on experience alongside NSW Health clinicians.

Students explored a range of allied health careers, learnt about university and career pathways, and gained an insight into what working in health looks like day-to-day.

We are so lucky to have these wonderful opportunities available to our students, giving them a chance to get a taste of the possibilities that are out there and start imagining where their future could take them.
