Creating a safe sleep environment is one of the many ways we care for children each day. From following safe sleep practices and using approved cots, to completing visual checks every 5 minutes, our educators take every step to help children rest safely and comfortably.

We also work closely with families to understand each child's individual sleep routine, because feeling safe, settled and well-rested helps children learn, grow and thrive.

💜 Safe sleep is everyone's responsibility, and it's always a priority.

The real superhero’s in our everyday 🪴

Educators day brings a sense of joy and excitement for our centre teams to cherish the wonderful work that we do each day to empower, support, encourage and teach the children of today.

Our team are the core of Goodstart Calala, and today we cherished every little piece of each of them with a wonderful gallery of their commitment through photos, ensuring each person had a full tummy and simply delighting in each other.

Our preschoolers turned the park into a giant page from Where’s Wally last week for some book week fun! We hid 20 little Wallys all around the park and the children adventured around with their checklists, marking off every single one. What a fun way to practice counting, teamwork and engage in literacy in the fresh air!

🌿 Learn, Play, Thrive Conference 2026 🌿

Day 1 began with cultural immersion on Country — reigniting our “why” at Boundary Rock with Knowledge Holder Kaliela.

Sitting on Country, listening to Kaliela’s stories, knowledge and perspectives, and taking the time to slow down, listen and reflect, gave me a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our own journey at Goodstart Calala and the impact we create every day through our commitment, relationships and practices.

It reminded me just how important our role is in keeping local Gamilaraay language alive — embedding culture, language and connection to Country into our everyday practice and creating meaningful opportunities for children to learn, hear and experience culture from the very beginning. ❤️

It was a powerful reminder that the work we do in ECE reaches far beyond the classroom. The everyday decisions we make, the words we use, the stories we share and the relationships we build can all contribute to keeping culture and language strong for future generations.

We then had a wonderful tour through the Botanical Gardens, exploring local traditions and deepening our knowledge and understanding of the Country we are privileged to learn and work on. 🌱

Day 2 brought a wealth of inspiration and practical ideas.

💛 Building children’s resilience: giving children the tips, tools and strategies they need to navigate and learn through their early childhood years.

🔬 All things STEAM : a wonderful reminder that teaching, learning and staying curious may be one of our greatest strategies in a world where technology is constantly evolving.

📚 Storytelling: exploring the power of props, imagination and creativity to bring stories to life.

🎨 Immersing ourselves in play with clay : creating, experimenting and embracing the process rather than the product.

Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.
