Student- Emerson Constable
Emerson exemplifies the spirit of "Inspiring Excellence" through her dedication, enthusiasm, and positive attitude at Westdale Public School. She actively embraces every opportunity, participating in diverse activities such as Cross Country, Swimming Carnivals, Science and Engineering Challenges, and leadership conferences, while also proudly representing the school in debating. As an outstanding School Captain, Emerson leads with respect, responsibility, and approachability, consistently supporting her peers and embodying the school’s values to create an inclusive and welcoming environment.
Her determination and strong work ethic shine through her resilience in the face of challenges and her commitment to giving her best in all endeavours. Emerson’s sportsmanship and leadership both on and off the field, combined with her kindness, empathy, and willingness to take on additional responsibilities, make her a revered and trusted member of the school community. She truly inspires excellence through her positive contributions and serves as a wonderful role model for all Westdale Public School students.
Staff member- Janelle Roworth
Ms Janelle Roworth exemplifies "Inspiring Excellence" through her unwavering passion and dedication to creative arts and student development. As a music teacher from Kindergarten to Year 6, she brings vibrant energy and expertise to her classroom, especially in teaching drums and fostering a love of rhythm and sound. Janelle’s exceptional musical leadership is evident in her leadership of school choirs, involvement in local Eisteddfod competitions, and her role in prestigious regional arts projects such as the CAPERS concerts, where she led a mass choir ensemble with outstanding communication and collaboration skills.
Beyond her musical contributions, Janelle passionately supports literacy initiatives and actively promotes Aboriginal culture as a key member of the NAIDOC committee. Her commitment enriches cultural experiences and fosters respect within the school community. Additionally, she coaches the school debating team and encourages students’ engagement in chess, nurturing critical thinking and confidence. Janelle’s multifaceted contributions and inspiring leadership truly embody educational excellence and community spirit, making a lasting impact on her students and the school.
Community member- Sue Gardiner
Sue Gardiner truly embodies the spirit of "Inspiring Excellence" through her selfless generosity, kindness, and unwavering support within the Westdale Public School community. As a devoted grandparent and volunteer, Sue consistently dedicates her time and resources to celebrate important school events and milestones, always placing the needs of students, staff, and families ahead of her own. Her thoughtful contributions have fostered a warm and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and connected.
Over many years, Sue’s kindness has touched countless lives, exemplified by her commitment to providing hundreds, if not thousands, of cupcakes for school celebrations such as NAIDOC Week and other special occasions. Despite the significant effort and personal cost, she has never sought recognition, choosing instead to give simply because she cares deeply. Sue’s compassion and generosity have inspired the entire school community, making her a truly deserving recipient of the 2026 Education Week Award and a shining example of how one person’s selfless acts can make a profound difference in public education.
