Back in the old logging days, every tree told a story.

The notch was carefully cut to control the direction of the fall, while the lift was used to help guide the tree safely. These weren’t just techniques—they were skills passed down through generations of bush workers.

As you walk through our forest, you’re walking among the history of those who shaped this landscape. We love sharing these stories and keeping the heritage of the timber industry alive.

🌲 Have you heard of the notch and lift before?

🦎 CAN YOU SPOT ME? 🍃

Rainforest facts!
Next time you’re strolling along our canopy elevated walkways, take a extra close look at the tree trunks-you might just be looking right at a Southern Leaf-Tailed Gecko (Saltuarius swaini)!

These incredible nocturnal reptiles are master illusionists of the subtropical rainforest floor and lower canopy.
Here is why we love them:

🌿 Ultimate Camouflage: Their mottled brown, bumpy skin perfectly mimics tree bark and moss. Combined with a wide, flat tail shaped just like a fallen leaf, they are practically invisible during the day!
👁️ Night Owls: As nocturnal hunters, they spend their days hiding in tree hollows or strangler fig roots, coming out at dusk to snack on insects, spiders, and beetles🧗 Claw Masters: Unlike many geckos with sticky toe-pads, leaf-tailed geckos have long, sharp claws—perfect for gripping rough, mossy tree bark high above the ground!

Nature’s camouflage at its finest. Have you ever spotted one hiding in plain sight along our trail?

Drop a 🦎 in the comments if you’ve got sharp eyes!
