Our purposely smaller cohorts mean bigger opportunities and more time well-spent with each student. The College’s intention is to always remain a small school, believing smaller classes per year level ensures optimum learning with a ‘family’ like environment. Over the weekend, some of our talented TMC Art students put their creativity on display at the Gold Coast Show Art Competition and what a result!

With a huge number of impressive entries from young artists across the region, the competition was fierce. We couldn’t be prouder of the way our students stepped up and shared their work.

Year 5 had a seriously wild day at TMC last week! 🌿

Our budding scientists came face to face with some spectacular birds of prey thanks to Mark and Awbrie Culleton, including a peregrine falcon, goshawk, Des the wedge tailed eagle and even Twinkle the barn owl! 🦉

But when Agatha the Powerful Owl arrived, you could feel the excitement. ❤️

After months of learning about Powerful Owls, recording sounds, collecting pellets and investigating their diets, our students finally got to meet one up close.

Then came the big reveal…

🎧 A Powerful Owl has actually been recorded at one of our students’ homes!

Yep, the discoveries aren’t just happening in the classroom. They’re happening right here on the mountain and in our own backyards!

And the pellet detective work delivered some fascinating results too. Comparing sites closer to and further from Brisbane revealed clear differences in diet, with our local Powerful Owls appearing to enjoy a menu with plenty of birds and bats on it. 🦇🐦

Fieldwork, data analysis, acoustic recordings and pellet investigations, our Year 5 students have been doing real science with real scientists and discovering that sometimes the most exciting research is happening right outside your door.

TMC Primary School P&F Father’s Day Stall is on TOMORROW

We are excited to celebrate all the wonderful dads, grandads, and father figures in our community with the TMC Primary School P&F Father’s Day Stall.

Event Details:
When: Wednesday, 2nd September
Gifts: $10 each
Payment: Please send cash before or on the day

Each student will have the opportunity to select a special gift to surprise their loved ones this Father’s Day.

There may also be an option to purchase additional gifts, so families are encouraged to send along some extra cash if your child would like to choose more than one.

You might remeber Josh and his brother Levi from placing at the Interschool round and qualifying for State! Well Josh recently took on the Snow Australia State Interschools Championships and came away with an outstanding 2nd place in the Multiclass event!

What an achievement and he’s not finished yet!

Josh is now OFF TO NATIONALS, where he’ll proudly represent Tamborine Mountain College on the national stage. 🇦🇺🎿

If there’s one thing we know how to do at TMC, it’s Book Week. And today, the mountain was absolutely roaring with it! 📖🦁

The amazing costumes brought the pages to life with characters, creatures, heroes, villains and plenty of wonderfully wild creations making their way through TMC.

There were big costumes. Little costumes. Clever costumes. Costumes that clearly took some serious imagination… and a few that had us wondering, “How on earth did they come up with that?!” 😂

But that’s the magic of books.
They take an idea… and let you make it your own.

And on the mountain, we do things best. ⛰️💫

Our TMC Equestrian Team were back in the saddle for a fantastic training session and looking pretty impressive while doing it!

We’re incredibly proud to see our riders working hard, building their skills, supporting one another and, of course, enjoying plenty of time with their four legged teammates. 🏇❤️

What an incredible evening for our Senior Band, who had the wonderful opportunity to perform alongside the Southern Cross Soloists (SXS) at their annual Chamber Music Festival at Shambala Estate.

As part of the SXS Education Program, our talented musicians performed a brand new piece composed especially for them, bringing to life a work that was developed through the Fresh Ink incursion held at TMC in Term 2.

A huge congratulations to our Senior Band on a truly memorable performance. We are so proud of the confidence, dedication and musical talent you continue to demonstrate.

Three TMC mountain bikers took on the Rocky Trail Academy South East Queensland Schools Mountain Bike Competition in Ipswich and they absolutely smashed their expectations! 🙌🔥

Competing against an incredible 142 riders, Nixon, Louis and Leo represented TMC with determination, skill and plenty of trail spirit.

🏆 Nixon — 14th
👏 Louis — 24th
💪 Leo — 27th

An incredible achievement, with all three finishing in the top 30 out of 142 competitors! 🤩

And they're not finished yet! 🚵‍♂️💨

Nixon, Louis and Leo will be back on the trails on 11 September back on the Gold Coast at Nerang for their next Rocky Trail Academy competition. We can't wait to see what they can achieve next!

Congratulations, boys, TMC is roaring with pride! 🦁🚵‍♂️
