πŸ“šβœ¨ The Green Bears at the Book Week Parade! βœ¨πŸ“š

Last week, our Green Bears had a very special outing to Sylvania Heights Public School to join their annual Book Week Parade! πŸ’›

The children were captivated by all the wonderful costumes, excitedly spotting familiar characters like Where’s Wally? and The Wiggles, and sharing their discoveries with their friends.

They were then invited to join the parade themselves! Some confidently walked alongside their friends, others made new connections along the way, and some were especially excited to walk with their siblings. πŸ₯°

It was such a beautiful opportunity for our children to connect with our local school community, build confidence in a new environment and celebrate their love of books, storytelling and imagination.

We loved watching our Green Bears proudly take part and experience that wonderful sense of belonging within their wider community. ❀️🍯🐻

πŸ’™πŸ¦Έβ€β™€οΈ Superhero Week for a Super Cause! πŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’™

Last week, our Honeybears educators swapped their uniforms for capes as we celebrated Superhero Week across all of our centres! From Marvel heroes to magical superheroes, there were plenty of smiles, laughter and fun shared with our children.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our wonderful Honeybears families, we were proud to raise funds for Bear Cottage.

The annual event honours the bravery of children with life-limiting conditions while raising vital funds for Bear Cottage, New South Wales’ only children’s hospice. Bear Cottage plays a crucial role in supporting families caring for children with life-limiting or terminal illnesses, providing essential care, respite and comfort during some of life’s most challenging moments.

At Honeybears, giving back to our community and supporting local charities is an important part of our philosophy. We are grateful for every family who contributed and helped make a meaningful difference through this special week.

Thank you for helping us show that superheroes come in many forms. ❀️🍯🐻

πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ NAIDOC Week β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ–€

As we celebrate NAIDOC Week, we have been reflecting on the beautiful cultural learning experiences our Honeybears children were fortunate to share during their recent Aboriginal cultural incursions with Robert from Konanggo Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Services.

The children were completely immersed in a morning of storytelling, creativity, music and hands-on discovery. They listened with wonder as Robert brought the Dreaming story of Tiddalick the Greedy Frog to life through puppetry, sparking conversations about kindness, sharing and caring for one another.

They explored authentic Aboriginal artefacts and natural materials, feeling the different textures of kangaroo and possum furs, learning about traditional tools such as the coolamon and boomerang, and discovering how First Nations peoples have lived in harmony with Country for thousands of years.

One of the highlights was creating their own Aboriginal-inspired handprint artworks, learning how hand stencils have long been used to represent identity, connection and the stories of people on Country. The children also experienced traditional ochre-inspired face painting, where Robert thoughtfully shared the cultural meaning behind the markings, encouraging respect and understanding throughout the experience.

To finish the morning, the children danced, moved and laughed together as they followed traditional rhythms with tapping sticks, using their bodies to imitate native Australian animals and experience the power of storytelling through music and movement.

Watching the children’s curiosity, excitement and genuine respect as they embraced each experience was incredibly special. These meaningful opportunities help nurture a deep appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and remind us of the importance of learning, listening and walking together with respect. ❀️🍯🐻

πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ RECONCILIATION WEEK 2026 AT HONEYBEARS β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ–€

Over the past several days, our Honeybears children have been engaging in meaningful experiences and conversations as we acknowledged and celebrated National Reconciliation Week.

Through a variety of hands-on learning opportunities, the children explored themes of connection, community, belonging, culture, and respect. From creative art experiences and sensory explorations to storytelling, discussions, music, and collaborative projects, the children have been learning about the importance of building relationships and working together towards a more inclusive future.

As part of our learning, some of our Preschool children participated in a special Walk and Talk community excursion around Sylvania Waters. Along the way, they observed the beauty of the local environment, visited the Honeybears Community Library, and explored important community spaces. These experiences encouraged meaningful conversations about caring for Country, respecting our shared spaces, and recognising the connections we have with the people, places, and communities around us.

Throughout the week, the children demonstrated curiosity, kindness, and a growing understanding of what it means to belong to a community where everyone is valued and respected. 🌿

At Honeybears, we believe that learning about reconciliation begins in early childhood through fostering respect, understanding, and appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, histories, and contributions.

Together, we continue to learn, listen, reflect, and walk forward. πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ

🐝🌼 WORLD BEE DAY AT HONEYBEARS 🌼🐝

Recently, all three of our Honeybears centres were buzzing with excitement as we celebrated World Bee Day with a very special incursion from Rooftop Bees! 🍯🐝

The children had the opportunity to learn all about the important role bees play in our environment and why they are so essential to the world around us. Together, we explored different types of bees, where they live, how they build their hives, and the incredible process of making honey and beeswax.

The children listened so thoughtfully, asked amazing questions, and showed such curiosity throughout the experience. πŸ’›

One of the highlights of the day was getting hands-on with real beekeeping equipment and learning how beekeepers safely care for their bees. The children even had the chance to pour their own honey into little jars to take home, along with a honey stick to share with their families 🍯✨

Since the incursion, the children’s interest in bees has continued throughout our classrooms, with educators extending their learning through a variety of bee-inspired experiences. The children have been exploring sensory trays, honeycomb painting experiences, creative arts, discussions about sustainability, and dramatic play opportunities inspired by what they learned during the visit. 🐝🎨🌿

Experiences like these help foster a love of nature, sustainability, and real-world learning while encouraging children to explore, wonder, and connect with the world around them.

A big thank you to Rooftop Bees for such an engaging and memorable experience! ❀️🍯🐻

🎈 Happy 6th Birthday to Honeybears Junior! 🎈

6 years of love, learning, laughter and community πŸ’› It is so special to think that the very first children we opened our doors with are now all off at big school!

We are so grateful to all of our beautiful families, children and educators, past and present, who have helped make Honeybears Junior the warm and special place it is today. Thank you for being part of our journey.

Here’s to many more years of memories together! ❀️🍯🐻

30/04/2026

Last week our children from Honeybears ELC, Honeybears Junior and Honeybears Kankinya came together to honour ANZAC Day by creating these beautiful wreaths ❀️

Using florals and foliage generously donated by our wonderful families, the children thoughtfully designed each wreath, engaging in meaningful conversations about remembrance, respect and the importance of community. The wreaths were then respectfully placed at Miranda War Memorial after the dawn service.

Experiences like this naturally connect to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), as children develop a deeper sense of belonging and contribution to their world (Outcome 2), demonstrate curiosity and creativity through hands-on learning (Outcome 4), and share their ideas, thoughts and understandings with others (Outcome 5).

We are so proud of the care, collaboration and respect shown by all of our children. ❀️🍯🐻
