🪵 Quality craftsmanship in the making! 🔨
There has been some impressive work taking shape in Stage 5 Industrial Technology Timber.
Year 10 students have begun assembling the main frames of their coffee tables, using precisely hand cut mortise and tenon joinery and routers to apply rounded edges to the legs.
Meanwhile, Year 9 students have made a great start on their second project for the year, creating intricate timber boxes using specialised jigs and routers to produce high-quality joinery.
We can’t wait to see the finished products!

🌍 Exploring the world through a different lens.
Year 10 Geography students have been exploring the uneven distribution of wealth and human wellbeing around the world
As part of their learning, students participated in an empathy building activity that challenged them to consider what everyday life might look like for people living below the poverty line.
The experience encouraged students to think critically about inequality, access to basic needs and the very different experiences of people around the world.

A huge congratulations to Lyndsay from Sylvania Bowling Club on receiving a 2026 Principal Network Excellence Award!
We nominated Lyndsay in recognition of his outstanding community partnership and the incredible support he provides to our students.
Every Tuesday, Lyndsay generously shares his time and expertise with our students, introducing them to lawn bowls, developing their skills and supporting them as they compete throughout the year. Alongside his wife Kay, he has helped create opportunities for our students to grow in confidence, connect with their community and develop a lifelong love of the sport.
This wonderful partnership is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when schools and community come together to support young people.
Congratulations, Lyndsay, on this very well-deserved recognition, and thank you to both Lyndsay and Kay for everything you do for our students and the Sylvania High School community! 🏆
