Could you confidently help your child in an emergency?
That’s exactly what our Baby & Child First Aid classes are designed for.

Last week, specialist paramedic Jess walked parents through the essentials from choking and burns to CPR and allergic reactions all with calm, practical guidance from years on the frontline.

🩺 Did you know: In over 70% of childhood emergencies, parents are the first on scene before an ambulance arrives? Knowing what to do in those first few minutes can make all the difference.

Our classes are hands-on, evidence-based and taught by real healthcare professionals so you’ll leave feeling prepared, not panicked.

Because when it comes to your child’s safety, confidence truly is everything.

You never think you’ll need a first aid kit… until you do. 🚑

Most kits are made for glove boxes not families.
So we built one that’s parent-tested, and ready for real life.

Inside you’ll find everything from:
🩹 Bandages, dressings + saline
🔥 Burn gel + burn dressings
💧 Eyewash + wipes
😷 CPR face shield + gloves
✂️ Scissors, tweezers + safety pins
🧣 Triangular bandage + thermal blanket

— all neatly packed, organised, and ready for any “oh no” moment.

Because when your child gets hurt, you don’t want to search for supplies — you want to act with confidence.

Running water on a burn for 20 minutes might feel like forever when your child is in pain but those 20 minutes can change everything 💧🔥

When skin is burnt even slightly the heat continues to spread deeper into the tissue long after the initial contact. Cooling the burn with cool running water (not ice!) for a full 20 minutes stops that heat from causing further damage.

It’s not just about soothing pain it’s about saving skin cells, reducing scarring, and preventing infection.

Even a quick rinse won’t stop the burn from continuing to cook underneath. Think of it like this if you take a hot potato out of the oven, it keeps cooking inside unless you cool it down properly. Your skin works the same way.

At One Mama First Aid, we teach parents what to do in those first crucial minutes - the kind of knowledge that can mean faster healing, fewer scars, and a calmer, more confident response.

Colds are one of the most common illnesses in babies and young children, and while most are mild, knowing the signs, symptoms, and when to seek help can make all the difference.

What a common cold looks like:
- Runny or blocked nose (sometimes clear, sometimes thicker)
- Sneezing and mild cough
- Slight fever
- Tiredness, clinginess, a drop in appetite or wanting to increase breast/formula feeds

What you can do at home:
- Offer small, frequent feeds (breastmilk or formula for babies under 6 months; water for older kids)
- Use saline drops or spray and a gentle suction bulb to help clear a blocked nose
- Run a cool-mist humidifier or let them sit in a steamy bathroom for a few minutes (unless they have a high fever)
- Offer extra cuddles — comfort truly helps regulate their little bodies

🚨 When to seek medical help:
Trust your instincts. You know your child best.

But always get checked immediately or call an ambulance if you notice:
- Breathing faster or working harder to breathe (tummy sucking in, nostrils flaring or under their neck sucks in when they breathe)
- Blue or pale lips
- Poor feeding or signs of dehydration (fewer wet nappies)
- Fever that lasts more than 3 days
- Unusual drowsiness, irritability, or if something just feels off

At One Mama First Aid, we teach parents how to recognise what’s normal, what’s not, and how to stay calm and confident through it all. Because understanding what’s happening and when to act makes every cold season a little less scary. 💪❤️

Choking hazards are often hard, small, round, and slippery - exactly the kind of textures that can block a baby’s airway.
Think grapes, popcorn, cherry tomatoes, or even chunks of raw apple.

The good news?
With a little prep, you can make these foods much safer.
✨ Cut, cook, or squash - depending on your child’s age. If it fails the squish test (you can’t easily squish it between your fingers), it’s too firm for your little one.

Resources like Solid Starts are fantastic for learning how to prepare foods safely by age and stage but we also teach parents how to respond if choking ever happens.

At One Mama First Aid, our paramedic-led classes cover what to look for, what to do, and how to stay calm in those critical moments - because knowing what to feed your baby is one thing… knowing what to do if they choke is everything. ❤️🚑

Imagine learning from someone who’s done CPR on the side of the road.
Someone who’s walked into homes, treated choking babies, calmed frantic parents, and made split-second decisions that save lives.

That’s the difference at One Mama First Aid.
Every single one of our educators is a practising paramedic - not just qualified, but actively working on the front line. 🚑

They know what it’s really like when your baby turns blue.
They know the sounds, the signs, the small details that make all the difference.
And they teach you what actually matters - no fluff, no jargon, just calm, clear, practical first aid you’ll remember when it counts.

Because when it comes to your child’s safety, you don’t need “textbook training.”
You need real-world experience, shared by people who live and breathe it every day.
