Each paycheck is an opportunity to take control of your financial future.

Yes that's right, each paycheck is a new opportunity to change your financial future.

Whether you get paid weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or even inconsistently, each time you get paid it is an opportunity for you to take ownership of your income and spend your money with intention.

Instead of letting another paycheck slip through your fingers, you can choose to tell it where to go so that each paycheck gets you slightly closer to your financial goals.

If you want to know how you can take control of your income, and your financial future, book a complimentary Q&A call with me via the link below.

Is it too late for your to make financial progress?

Do you feel like it’s too late for you to make financial progress and achieve your financial goals?

Doubt does not discriminate based on age. Whether you are in your late 20s, 30s, or 40s you may at times feel like too much time had passed for you to make any progress with your financial goals.

You’d be lucky to find anyone who hasn’t made a financial mistake (or many of them!) in their lives!

But the great thing about your financial future is that you can always make changes! Your past does not equal your financial future!

One of my biggest financial mistakes to date was that I didn’t start investing (outside of my superannuation account) until I was in my early 30s!

Do I wish I could have started when I was 18 or in my early 20s? YES!!! Of course!

But instead of being annoyed at my mistake and not taking action with my finances, I acknowledged that yes, maybe I had been living under a rock all this time. Then instead of kicking myself for not starting earlier, I took action, learned as much as I could about investing (I am still learning, your learning should never stop :)) and once I felt more comfortable I made my first investment and corrected that past financial mistake.

The thing that matters the most when it comes to your finances is that you are always open to learning more and acknowledging that it’s okay to make mistakes or start on your financial journey later in life.

The key is to let those past mistakes remain where they belong, behind you and make those changes and get started!

Are you ready to take control of your money in 2023 and start your financial journey?

Are you ready to leave past financial mistakes in the past and take action?

I know many people when they think of budgeting they instantly think that a budget will hold them back and be too restrictive. Budgets mean no fun right?

But I'm glad as a financial coach I can share things to help dispel those myths about budgeting. 😀

So today I wanted to share a post about how my budget helps me (not hinders 😉) do awesome things!

This is a photo of my husband and I from last night seeing one of our favourite comedians Tom Segura at Aware Super Theatre.

We have a 'Sinking Fund' set up for fun things just like this which allows us to save up for these events throughout the year.

That way when we see something we want to go to, we can afford to get tickets as we've already prioritised and planned ahead for expenses like this. We know that all our other expenses are taken care of and these tickets won't leave us short!

This was our first time seeing an international stand up comedy act at such a big venue and it was so awesome! 🙂

Do you want help to see how you can budget and achieve your 2023 financial goals whilst still getting to have fun experiences?

◼️How to Plan Ahead and Budget for Dental Visits◼️

Last Friday I went for my regular dental check up.

In the past whenever I got the bill I would flinch and feel the pain of that invoice amount (a good time to mention that I currently don't have extras cover so that bill was all mine).

So to avoid this additional discomfort after a dental visit, I set up a new Sinking Fund in my budget for 'Dental visits' to make sure there was enough in the fund for at least two visits a year to save that bill pain from hitting post visit.

So this time on my visit last Friday, as I got the bill (which came in at $251) I didn't need to flinch or stress over how I was going to cover that. I didn't need to feel annoyed that I had to take that amount out of my savings because I had already funded it in my Sinking Funds.

So I just paid the bill and walked out knowing it was all sorted as I had already planned ahead for this visit.

Let me know by commenting below, do you have money set aside to cover your dental visits?👇

◾Planning Ahead - Utilities Budget◾

Here's a quick budgeting tip to plan ahead for your utility bills.

Step 1: Locate your utility bills for the last 12 months (I like to go back 12 months so you can take into account all 4 seasons of bills.

Step 2: Total the total expense as per the bill for the year by adding together all bills (electricity, gas and water).

Step 3: Divide this total by the number of paycheques you have during that 12 month period (12 for monthly pay, 26 for fortnightly pay and 52 for weekly pay).

Step 4: Once you have the per paycheque amount add that into your budget and make sure you set that amount aside from each paycheque, ready to pay your utility bills as you receive them.

This way you can make sure you have a reasonable estimate of your bill set aside that you won't spend.

If you are short when the bill arrives, that's okay. This is just an estimate, but now it will be much easier to afford a small amount of the additional bill, rather than trying to find the entire amount before the due date.

Step 3: Divide this total by the number of paycheques you have during that 12 month period (12 for monthly pay, 26 for fortnightly pay, and 52 for weekly pay).

◾ Get Organised This Year With a Christmas Gift List ◾

Do you find Christmas shopping stressful?

Do you hit the shops without a list and end up going way over budget?

Do you spend more time than necessary in the mall, wasting time that you could have spent relaxing?

Are you stressed and overwhelmed about how to get your Christmas shopping done quickly rather than spending days looking for the perfect gift?

This used to be me. I would keep everything in my head, or write notes for shopping on post-it notes that would get lost along the way. As you can imagine this wasn't ideal when it came to my time and wasn't the best way to manage my Christmas budget.

That's exactly why I created this Christmas Gift List and I know that you will love it too!

Simply print out as many pages as you need and brainstorm your gift plans:

There's space to write in:
- Who, who you need to buy for
- What, what you are going to buy them
- Where, where to get the gift (this helps you plan out where to shop in the most efficient order)
- Mark in the budget for each person's gift (so you can leave the credit card at home!)
- Tick off each as your buy them so you know it's done and you can get all the satisfaction that comes with crossing something off your to do list!

If you ready to feel more organised and less overwhelmed this Christmas, and want to stick to your budget goals, grab your Christmas Gift List printable in my etsy store via the link below (or visit my Etsy Store, link in bio)

◾3 Tips to Pay Off Your Homeloan◾

1. Keep your savings in your offset account.
Any money kept here will offset your interest repayment and save you $$$. For example if you have $10K in an offset account linked to your mortgage, you will only pay interest on your mortgage balance less that $10K amount.

2. Renegotiate your home loan interest rate with your bank
See what they are offering new customers or look at what the competitors are offering to save on your interest repayments. This can add up to thousands or tens of thousands of dollars a year in savings alone!

3. Pay down your high interest consumer debt as fast as you can.
Then once your debt is paid off, put those debt repayments on to your mortgage to pay it down faster.

How would you feel if you were mortgage free? Comment below!

◾6 Steps to Reduce Financial Stress◾

If you are feeling financial stress when it comes to your money here are 6 steps you can implement to help you leave financial stress in the past!

1 Spend Less Than You Make
This is a simple one but one that is too often forgotten. In order to know how much you can spend you need to track your income and expenses and learn to spend less that you make. This may involve some tough decisions and some sacrifices but in the long-run you will thank yoursel

2 Plan Ahead for Upcoming Bills
Bill are like clockwork. Most come every month, quarter or twelve months. If you spend your income with no planning in order to cover your bills, you are going to leave yourself short. When that next bill comes along it is going to cause you stress trying to find the money to pay for it.

3 Save up a 3 Month Emergency Fund
The more you have in an Emergency Fund, the less stressed you are going to feel about your finances. Having a started emergency fund of $2-5K is going to help you if you face small financial emergencies.

When you boost your EF beyond that to 3 months expenses, you create options! If you lose your job, it's not such a stressful situation as you have given yourself time to weigh up your options and make the best decision for you.

4 Set Money Aside From Each Paycheck
Try and save something from each paycheck. At first it might feel a little tight in your budget at first, but over time you will get used to spending within your new limit.

5 Pay Down Debt As Fast as You Can
If you have credit card balances you are most likely paying 20% plus in interest. Once you have a start emergency fund, start paying down your debt as quickly as possible. Think about how amazing it is going to feel and how much less stressed you'll feel when you pay off your first credit card.

6 Only Buy Things You Have the Cash For
Avoid using BNPL services & credit cards to spend money unless you can pay off your CC in full when the statement comes, you are spending money you don't have. This is a unhelpful habit to have if you want to get ahead with your finances!
