When you’re in the middle of a hard situation your brain can get stuck and tell you it will always feel this way. The good news? It won’t, and here’s why…

This is the concept that told our founder changed everything for him when it comes to happiness. And it’s one of the most powerful tools we teach here at BU.

Acceptance isn’t fluffy rainbows and sunny skies, it is accepting the feelings instead. Because just like happiness, discomfort is not permanent.

Swipe through if you’re in a hard season right now, this one is for you 💚
And save this for the days when it all feels too much

Most people don’t notice how far they’ve come because they’re so focused on how far they still have to go 💚

Growth in emotional intelligence isn’t always obvious. It shows up quietly - a pause before you react, the moment you name a feeling instead of burying it, the fact that you’re still here, still trying, even on the days it feels hard.

This carousel is for anyone who’s been doing the work and can’t quite see the evidence of it yet.
Swipe through and count how many of these land for you 🍃

💾 Save this for the next time your inner critic tells you you’re not making progress. Come back and read it again 💚

The step most people skip when trying to build habits, and it's why you quit!
Your brain doesn't just want progress. It needs to be acknowledged for it.
Every time you celebrate a small win, even just a mental high five, you give your brain a hit of dopamine 🙌 This is what wires the behaviour in and makes it stick.
It doesn't matter if the win is one minute of meditation or a short walk instead of your planned gym session. Celebrating it tells your brain 'that was worth doing again.'
Stop waiting for the big milestone to feel proud. The tiny wins are the whole game.

💚 Save this if you're working on building a new habit right now and come back to it on the days it feels like you're not making progress.

🎙️ on the podcast: you don’t have to be happy all the time 📢

It’s one of the biggest myths about happiness and it’s also one of the most exhausting ones to believe.

In this months episode of The Ripple Effect, and sit down to talk about what happiness actually looks like in reality: navigating big life changes, processing emotions instead of pushing them away and what it really means to support yourself AND the people you love.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re failing at happiness because you’re not feeling it 24/7 this one’s for you

Save this if you needed the reminder that hard seasons are allowed to feel hard 💚

If you’re feeling unfulfilled it could be because your goals have been set around expectation and comparison before checking in with yourself first. What looks ‘right’ on the outside instead of what FEELS right for you.

At BU Happiness College, we see this all the time. High-functioning, capable people chasing success, ticking the boxes they think they ‘should be’ but still feeling disconnected, overwhelmed or like something is missing.

Not because they’re doing life wrong, but because they’ve never been taught how to define happiness on their own terms.

If this hit, save this as your reminder to pause and ask yourself:
🍃 ‘Is this what I truly want… or what I’ve been taught to want?’ 🍃

Follow for evidence-based tools to help you build a life that actually feels good, not just looks good 🙌🏼

That’s a wrap on the 2026 Happiness Immersion Retreat in the blue mountains ⛰️💚 Here’s my best attempt at summarising 3 incredible days into 7 dot points ⬇️

1. We started with connection games (so much laughter) and a round of ‘bad artist’ where we drew each others portraits in 60 seconds, without looking at the canvas 😂 (the best souvenirs)

2. Then we all paired up, were given a recipe card, and had our own version of My Kitchen Rules - the result was an epic feast on night 1. 🧑‍🍳

3. The following morning was all about mindful movement, stretching, meditation and then 3 hours of saunas and ice baths at the incredible .co . 🧖

4. Friday afternoon was spent connecting, chatting, relaxing, and enjoying the beautiful heritage house we were staying in. It was International Happiness Day so we had plenty of discussions about the importance of happiness in our lives.

5. Saturday was all about the big hike. The group rallied together and pushed through some very steep and lengthy sections of stairs to enjoy a remarkable viewpoint at the end - and the high of accomplishment that came with it.

6. More cooking, stretching, connecting, and plenty of laughter. Some of my favourite parts of the retreat happened in the ‘in between spaces’ between activities.

7. Throughout the retreat we ran 3 guided journaling, reflection, and learning sessions. During these times we often cried together, with sadness and with joy. We held space for each other to connect more deeply than many of us had experienced in a while.

It’s a testament to this entire group of great humans that the most common word people were using to describe their experience of the retreat was ‘safe’. Safe to open up, safe to be vulnerable, safe to connect, and safe to be themselves.

This retreat has warmed my heart and nourished my soul in ways I didn’t even know I needed. It was a privilege to host it, facilitate it, and experience it.

Stay tuned - we will be running another Happiness Immersion Retreat in 2027.

Real growth doesn’t come from pushing through, it comes from being open to learning what’s actually going on beneath the surface. Remember - you’re not doing anything wrong, if these hit home for you it’s a reminder that happiness and healing is a skill, and skills can be learned!

At BU, we teach the science and skills of happiness so you can move from suffering to thriving. If this resonates - it’s time to stop doing it alone.
