Our UQ, UTS and UniMelb students have arrived in Australia and have already started making memories - from seeing koalas and exploring Sydney to learning to surf.

📍 Inside the Sydney Opera House

It’s one thing to admire the Sydney Opera House from the outside, but stepping inside and learning the story behind one of Australia’s most iconic landmarks made the experience even more memorable.

Sometimes the best moments aren’t planned. Taking in the ocean views, fresh air, and sunshine while getting to know new friends made this walk one to remember.

From our first lesson on the sand to standing up on the surfboard, this was definitely a bucket list moment.

Safe to say there were plenty of laughs, a few wipeouts, and lots of cheering each other on.

One of the best parts of studying abroad isn’t just the places you visit… it’s the friendships you make along the way. These are memories (and people) that will stay with you long after the semester ends.

✈️ Just landed in Sydney. Now what?

Orientation might sound straightforward - but there are a few things our students wish they’d known going in. Ryan Chun is spilling it all. 👇

📱 Download WhatsApp before you fly - it’s the main way Arcadia communicates from the moment you land.

🚌 Orientation starts straight from the airport - no pit stop, no hotel rest. Go prepared!

🏕️ It’s not in Sydney - orientation is held about an hour south of the city at a beautiful campground called The Tops. Meals are included!

🛏️ You’ll share a room with 4–5 others - bring your own shampoo and conditioner, everything else is sorted.

And the best part? It’s genuinely so much fun - hiking, a wildlife zoo, surfing lessons, and the people who’ll become your people for the whole semester.

The chaos of orientation is just the beginning of something unforgettable.

That’s the mindset Mason carried across 101.4km of trails, 4,253m of elevation gain, and 17 hours and 21 minutes of pure grit at the Ultra-Trail Australia 2026.

“One of the most meaningful parts of my time in Sydney was my internship with The Big Issue Australia, where I worked mainly in Sydney through their vendor engagement and community outreach programs. I spent time interacting with vendors daily, learning from their stories and supporting their work, which gave me a real understanding of life experiences across the city.
