What an incredible two days at the Catholic Schools NSW Behaviour and Diverse Learning Symposium 2026.

On Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 May, our Catholic community gathered to explore practical, evidence-informed ways to build safe, respectful, inclusive and cohesive school communities.

Day 1 focused on anti-bullying, school safety and social cohesion, with insights from Dallas McInerney, Emeritus Professor Donna Cross, Iris Nastasi, Kerryn Barnett, Peter Wertheim, Sandy Hollis, Peter Moroney, and other expert panellists.

Day 2 continued with a focus on Consent and Respectful Relationships Education, Diverse Learning, CVE and School Safety, and Mental Health and Pastoral Care. Speakers included Marita Winters, Tom Bennett OBE, Dr Mark Williams, Stina Constantine, Bryan Jeffrey, Shawn van der Linden, and David Hurley. Their contributions helped bring together key themes of resilience, positive wellbeing and behaviour, and Catholic formation.

Across the two days, one message was clear: every student deserves to be known, supported and given the opportunity to thrive.

Thank you to all speakers, panellists, facilitators, CSNSW staff, and attendees for your contribution and commitment to the students in our Catholic schools.

For those who attended, please keep an eye on your inbox over the coming days for access to post-event resources.

Catholic Schools NSW, in partnership with the Council of Catholic School Parents (CCSP), is pleased to share a new resource supporting and promoting positive dialogue between home and school, parents and teachers.

We recognise the vital role parents play as the first educators of their children. At times, however, a range of factors can make relationships between parents and teachers challenging.

By fostering respectful and honest communication, we can strengthen the partnership between home and school — ultimately supporting the education and success of every child.

On the Feast of Saint Joseph the Worker, we honour Saint Joseph—guardian of the Holy Family and a model of faithful, devoted work. Entrusted with caring for Jesus Christ and his family, Joseph carried great responsibility with faith, humility and quiet strength.

His life shows that even ordinary labor, done with love and perseverance, has deep dignity and purpose.

St Joseph the Worker, pray for us.
